Other personal faves here include Mitski with her chart breakthrough and Fat Dog with their debut single that gained much prominence earlier in the year having very convincingly won an edition of the Buzzjack Song Contest. For the indie fans Linkin Park's final hit with the late Chester Bennington on vocals is also here, as is Nothing But Thieves' synthpop inspired lead-off single to 'Dead Club City' and Lana Del Rey's two songs in one 'A&W'. Zach Bryan also proved country could sell well with Buzzjack with wintery ballad 'I Remember Everything' also appearing. And I suppose you can also count the Anne-Marie song as a country hit too, that's also here. Chappell Roan's major breakthrough in 2024 assists two of her singles from last year with 'Hot To Go' as a semi-finalist and 'Red Wine Supernova' narrowly missing the cut. Zara Larsson over performed a fair bit in the Multichart but drops to a position you'd expect more for this song, whilst her other hit of the year fell very short of an AQ slot. One of three Eurovision songs to AQ, Alessandra is here with the contest's top two finishers yet to come. Tate McRae's here with 'Exes' which followed-up the much bigger 'Greedy' which itself is a semi-finalist. Doja Cat getting her biggest chart hit seemingly unexpectedly is also here. The two big hits off the Barbie soundtrack also both appear in the top 10, with Billie now as the favourite having underperformed in the Multichart. P!nk's late-career surprise 'Trustfall' was also a big hit with Buzzjack, she is joined by the UK year-end #1 hits for both 2023 and 2024 from Miley Cyrus and Noah Kahan (the latter who I've let into 2023 given that's when it started charting although the song technically should really go in 2022). Buzzjack hate figures D-Block Europe are also in, who'd have thought - albeit very much helped by Raye being the main vocal focus here. SZA rounds out the top 20 with her biggest solo hit to date. Direct Finalists :yahoo: 05 ** 313 Dua Lipa - Houdini 04 40 317 Käärijä - Cha Cha Cha 03 09 321 Peggy Gou - (It Goes Like) Nanana 02 01 340 Loreen - Tattoo 01 03 380 Calvin Harris & Ellie Goulding - Miracle Released late into the year hence its non-position on the Multichart, 'Houdini' led Dua Lipa's most recent album and proved an instant hit with Buzzjack of course, eventually just about outdoing 'Dance the Night' to become a direct finalist (I was actually expecting this to be much further ahead). Then we are left amazingly with both of the year's big Eurovision hits - two songs that both could have been overwhelming contest winners if not for being in the same year. This also gives Loreen another free decade at running ROTD after 'Euphoria' was a similarly big Buzzjack hit. She is however only second here as the clear winner comes from Calvin & Ellie whose 'Miracle' was a huge moment for dance music in the year and very much loved across the forum, alongside the other huge dance hit of the summer from Peggy Gou who finishes in 3rd. Very well done Buzzjack, what a great top five (and thanks to Iz's late votes for allowing it).
