In lieu of the previous SyncTube sessions' weekly polls cutting each week's songs down to a list of 10 options to vote for because no one volunteered to do the work to make such curated lists, for our Hot 100 #1s marathon I'm just going to post one of these threads each week allowing people to vote for whichever songs they want from the full list x

If you don't know what the above sentence is referring to don't worry, this thread is open to participation from anyone (although we're always open to new participants at our weekly listening sessions x), just post in the thread with up to 5 favourites and, if you want, up to 3 least favourites from the below song list. The song with the most favourite nods will get a play at the start of next week's session (and the song with the most least favourite nods will just have a permanent place on a wall of shame for funziez).

It looked like we may have had the first song to win the best poll by a margin of more than one vote, but a couple of last day votes tightened it up, though not changing the winner which was Stevie Wonder's 'Superstition' on 8 votes (out of a record matching 13 total votes). Three songs ended up tied for 2nd place with 7 votes each - Don McLean's 'American Pie', America's 'A Horse With No Name' and Carly Simon's 'You're So Vain' (all comfortably ahead of the rest of the pack). There's a new record in the worst poll as we have the first song to get a double digit number of votes (only the second time there has even been a double digit total number of votes, a new record of 13 as everyone nominated both best and worst songs this time). It's a second successive 'victory' for Donny Osmond this time as a solo artist, and also the second time the song 'Go Away Little Girl' has won the worst poll vote following the earlier version by Steve Lawrence - of all the songs to be a Hot 100 #1 twice -_- Donny's version racked up 11 votes, with a runaway top 3 rounded out by Michael Jackson's 'Ben' on 7 votes and Chuck Berry's 'My Ding-A-Ling' in third place on 6 votes.

We're back to having no double A-Sides this week so it's a straightforward 47 songs covering the 298th through 344th #1s, from early June 1973 (Billy Preston's 'Will It Go Round In Circles') to mid November 1974 (John Lennon and The Plastic Ono Nuclear Band's 'Whatever Gets You Thru The Night'). Apologies for the late thread again but not quite as late as the last time I was late at least so hopefully people will still remember these songs well enough  voting open until 4pm on Sunday as usual x

Jim Croce - Time In A Bottle

John Denver - Annie's Song

Marvin Gaye - Let's Get It On

Paul McCartney & Wings - Band On The Run

I didn't care too much for the first Jim Croce #1 but the second one was a surprise great discovery.

Worst:

Paul Anka and Odia Coates - (You're) Having My Baby

Ray Stevens - The Streak

Ringo Starr - You're Sixteen

Ray is the worst by far but the other two give the ick as well x

Grand Funk Railroad - We're An American Band

John Denver - Sunshine On My Shoulders

Steve Miller Band - The Joker

Worst:

Barbra Streisand - The Way We Were (soz!)

Not much stood out this week, whether it's my memory failing me or just a fallow period in time, so I've just gone with a top 3 for best and one for worst:

Jim Croce - Time In A Bottle

John Denver - Annie's Song

Marvin Gaye - Let's Get It On

Worst:

Ray Stevens - The Streak

[Would probably add Paul Anka as I remember the song from Glee but missed most of it the other day, at least it was short  ]

Best:

Blue Swede - Hooked On A Feeling

George McCrae - Rock Your Baby

Jim Croce - Time In A Bottle

John Denver - Annie's Song

Paul McCartney & Wings - Band On The Run

Not a great week, but Jim Croce a rare good discovery.

Ray Stevens - The Streak

Ringo Starr - You're Sixteen

Best:

The Rolling Stones - Angie

Paul McCartney & Wings - Band On The Run

George McCrae - Rock Your Baby

Jim Croce - Time In A Bottle

Grand Funk Railroad - The Loco-Motion (throwing this a vote since it was a pretty good discovery and did something different with the song)
