^Everything gets reset on Jan 1st no matter what, Jan is a clean start

the labels just have to ask but they grant everything, they ignore the 25% rule

Not how it works.

They only reset stuff that went to ACR in December, which Die with a Smile didn’t, therefore it won’t get reset.

I am just hoping it'll get a good New Year's boost and can increase 25%

If it gets a 25% increase in the week including 1st Jan, that won't count for anything - they'll only reset songs which went to ACR in December, regardless of how much they or other songs increased by.

Don’t most of the big hits of the year end up getting a reset due to the NYE and Best of the Year playlists getting promoted?

I’d say it’s very likely DWAS gets a big boost alongside ‘Beautiful Things’, ‘Espresso’, ‘Too Sweet’, ‘Good Luck, Babe!’ Etc..

but isn't the rule that labels can apply for a reset and they grant 1 song reset per artist?

Only for songs that went to ACR in December.

So at the beginning of 2020 almost everything on ACR was automatically reset just under the normal 25% rules due to the new year effect plus the market dropping. They realised that was silly and changed the rules so since then whatever increase you might have had in the first week of the year is irrelevant.

In 2021 the rule seemed to be songs that were still being “actively promoted” as singles being reset, which was pretty arbitrary.

They seem to have since settled on everything that went to ACR in December being reset subject to a cap of 1 per artist.

Hopefully 360 can get a reset and finally hit the top 10 in the new year. :kink:

from the rules section:

But won't a load of songs get resets in January once people stop listening to Christmas songs?

The OCC changed the rules from 2021 regarding January resets. What has happened in previous years is songs that have peaked long ago, but still fall within 3 years of release, got resets due to the year-end effect. One example of this in 2020 was Ed Sheeran's Perfect (which infamously continued to avoid ACR for over half the year, until it reached 3 years since it had its official single push and thus fell foul of that rule). To avoid this, the ACR automatic reset process is paused for the Xmas–NewYear transition, and the OCC invite labels to nominate tracks they wish to continue to promote and thus give a reset to. For example in 2021, manual resets caused Dua Lipa's 'Levitating' to re-peak at #5, Tate McCrae's 'You Broke Me First' to return to the top 10, amongst other re-entries in the top 40.

so the 25% rule doesn't apply, but here it says nothing about songs going to ACR on Nov not being able to apply for a manual reset

for instance last year Vampire went to ACR in Oct already

and got a manual reset in Jan

so the rule didn't apply there, did it?

It didn't get a reset in January.

The resets in the first week of January are the songs that went to ACR in December, as has been stated, with just one song reset per primary artist.

Tyla up 1 to a new peak of #186 spotify despite the climb of the Christmas songs *_* Hoping to see "PUSH 2 START" appearing on Amazon/Apple soon.

Speaking of Tate, her 'its ok i'm ok' is above '2 hands' in the chart so I wonder which one will get a reset, hoping for both or the former which I considerably prefer.

2 hands isn't old enough to go to ACR before January anyway

I stand corrected then but never ever heard about this rule

Nothing out today, Xmas is really here... HH still pushing things like Sonny Fodera-Somedays at #2 :D
