I believe that Apple's playlists are geoblocked or something! I think that's why it seems easier for new releases to take off there, than they do on Spotify.

And it actually didn't do that well in the US either until the last few years. It reached top ten on Hot 100 for the first time in 2019 and finally #1 in 2023. So no, it's not popular JUST because of the Americanized playlists on Spotify, it just has grew on popularity in general.

 

Was there not a rule in the US chart where ‘holiday songs’ had a seperate chart until recently? That’s the reason she only recently charted there.

I liked the one song I heard before from Sam Barber ('Straight And Narrow'), another artist more from the 'alternative' side of country a la Zach Bryan and Dylan Gossett, so probably here for him to be maybe lining up a January hit.

People can also do their own Christmas playlists including only UK based songs and share them on Facebook x

From last Sunday Wham down 9k and Gracie up 60k. In total Gracie is 150k better off (Factoring in ACR) than last week vs Wham on Spotify. So it really might be the physicals that do it for Wham(I could be wrong but we shall see)

I can’t see how any logic takes you to “That’s So True” being the best streamer when it can’t even match the best streamer halved. And as far as I’m aware there’s no evidence of Amazon streams being fake - we know there’s a lot of autoplay happening of course.

I'd never heard of it either until I noticed it in the Spotify chart the other day - somehow it has had 245 days in the top 200 since 2016 with a peak of #11, which doesn't sound right!

It’s a glitch - I think White Christmas’s streams are going to that in the chart for some reason. One day it was showing up as White Christmas the next day as Hey Santa Claus with the movement based on White Christmas’ position the previous day

As if Brenda has overtaken Mariah on Spotify. I hope she can also overtake Mariah next week
