I can see a campaign coming along next year to stop Wham! getting Christmas number 1 for a third year in a row

I really don't think people care enough, hun.

If Lola actually makes the top 10 this week, that is haooooge! :o

Nah she’s staying on SCR so she’ll probably still be top 20. I guess #16

The Reytons seem to be pushing hard for their live album to get to #1 now.

Hope they can get it after cruely being denied number 1 back in February! Also hope they read the chart rules properly this time...

Now that Last Christmas and All I Want For Christmas have got #1 and Santa Tell Me and Underneath the Tree have got top 10 - I’m ready for the rules to change next year

They cared enough when X Factor and LadBaby both got it 5 times in a row especially with the former when a campaign was set up to stop X Factor getting it and I’m surprised Lola is top 10 with the Christmas rush

Cheers not familiar with that one

You’ve never heard that song??

You’ve never heard that song??

Tbf my year 7 maths class didn't when we did a Christmas quiz  Why people don't just call it "Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire" instead of the generic "Christmas Song"

Still 375 units down on last year's corresponing update, 39,669 last year, 39,294 this year.

Further away from the big day as well though!

Guess there wasn’t many Xmas songs available when it was released. Plus it’s ’The Christmas Song’ (Chesnuts Roastin’) is the official name I think!

I think it's the title that can throw people. Some covers of the song are titled 'The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)' or 'The Christmas Song (Merry Christmas To You)' for this reason.

Edit: just read subsequent posts which answers this!

^^Yeh there’s a few different ones!

Remember being the only one at a Christmas quiz to get it as well one year and people found it hilarious I knew the name. To me it’s one of the all time classic Xmas melodies.

From last Friday's chart thread...

Thank you!

Maybe a higher peak this year… 31 today…

To be honest just happy it comes back to top 40 every year! Amazing. Also the radio support… phenomenal  now just need that new music!!!!

Just looked it up and there is both a standalone physical release of The Cure's live album and one that bundles it with the studio album, the live album did also appear at #60 in the Monday midweeks on its own so I guess it's only the sales of the bundled version that are being combined (which seems fair enough, it's effectively a deluxe version). Not sure how streaming works in this arrangement but obviously we'd be dealing with negligible numbers either way here.

Just listened to it and didn't recognise it at all :o

This time it seems the race isn't competitive at all. Also, the Amazon song seems no more a potential contender unlike before, are less people using the Amazon playlists?

Another consideration, how incredibly low are the Album sales! Do you remember when people like Olly Murs used to make their day releasing albums in this period, increasing sales week after week?

Genuinely think the Amazon song by Tom Grennon isn't such a contender because of its intro. It sounds like it's going to be an old-fashioned dreary kind of track in the opening seconds. So I think the words "Alexa... skip" are maybe used on it?

I've done it myself and I've heard mates do it without giving the song a chance.

The dates maybe just too early. Amazon gets stronger the closer it gets to Christmas thanks to Alexa and it being an easy convenience for family’s etc. Plus his physicals aren’t cheap nor even released yet. I’m sure he will still get top 5 again next week
Out of interest as a first listen what did you think?

Not my go to kind of Christmas song but that's not to say I found it bad in anyway just not for me personally
