November 21, 2025Nov 21 Despite being about 25 mins shorter than Part 1, this is didn't feel longer. The reality of the second part is that the songs just aren't anywhere near as good/catchy as the first part and the film could quite easily have been half as long!That said, Ariana was SO GOOD in this one. And it was still a fantastic film, it just would have taken a miracle to be half as good as the first (which is probably my favourite film of the last 10 years, at least!).I'm still giving it a 5* rating: it's one I'll happily watch alot of, the songs aren't pop songs but they do their job, and the emotions were flowing!(side note, I know Ari is in this, but it's surprising to not see the main thread [or any thread] in the film forum... Which this could really drive traffic to...)
November 22, 2025Nov 22 Author I found the plot slow going until the wedding scenes and then was finally hooked from there on. So overall a step down from the first and a bit messy but Cynthia’s ‘No Good Deed’ number was outstanding and I shed a few tears during ‘For Good’, need Ari to win a best supporting actress Oscar this time even if category fraud, she sold the hell out of that material.
November 22, 2025Nov 22 No Good Deed floored me too Jade wow wow wow!!!Ariana really shone in this movie though and showcased Glinda the good perfectly! Some great comical scenes during the fight part with Cynthia but also some great emotional work too during the wedding scenes which must’ve been so hard to film!I also loved the original track Girl In The Bubble. I held off hearing the original tracks until the film itself but I was a fan of that. No Place Like Home was also very good! For Good might actually be my favourite Ariana / Cynthia duet though! That was the most special musical moment across both films in a sense for me. November 23, 2025Nov 23 Author For the first film we had a thread in both here and the Movies forum, much like how Gaga’s film projects always have their own threads in her AF, it’s just no one had actually created one in the Movies forum yet for the sequel, whereas I had got on this one as an Ariana mod. Feel free to discuss the movie in general there and Ariana in the film here now that two threads do exist.(The ‘general discussion’ title is just to separate this thread in the AF from the one about the soundtrack.)

January 22Jan 22 Author Ooft this was completely snubbed at the Oscars!As aforementioned, I enjoyed the first film a lot more, but am still a bit gutted for Ari as I did love her performance. Well, at least she'll always have that nomination from the first one.
January 23Jan 23 Same. I was expecting at least one. Some people reckon it didn't get nominated for any awards is because it was split into two parts.
