In lieu of the previous SyncTube sessions' weekly polls cutting each week's songs down to a list of 10 options to vote for because no one volunteered to do the work to make such curated lists, for our Hot 100 #1s marathon I'm just going to post one of these threads each week allowing people to vote for whichever songs they want from the full list x

If you don't know what the above sentence is referring to don't worry, this thread is open to participation from anyone (although we're always open to new participants at our weekly listening sessions x), just post in the thread with up to 5 favourites and, if you want, up to 3 least favourites from the below song list. The song with the most favourite nods will get a play at the start of next week's session (and the song with the most least favourite nods will just have a permanent place on a wall of shame for funziez).

Pet Shop Boys topped last week's poll with 'West End Girls' becoming the third song to reach the 10 vote mark - will anything manage to go beyond 10 in the remaining weeks? There was a clear top 3 for the week with a tie for the runner-up slot on 9 votes each for Tears For Fears' 'Everybody Wants To Rule The World' and a-ha's 'Take On Me'. The latter might have actually won via tiebreak if Cow hadn't intentionally snubbed it just to get a "different winner" which I feel is slightly going against the point of these polls (the results aren't meant to be surprising) but hey ho x Phil Collins and Marilyn Martin's 'Separate Lives' came out on top of the worst poll with 7 votes, denying Lionel Richie the chance to have a solo worst winner to join his one as leader of Commodores, as 'Say You, Say Me' finished 2nd with 5 votes. It was a three way tie for bronze on 4 votes each between Patti LaBelle and Michael McDonald's 'On My Own', Whitney Houston's 'Saving All My Love For You' (I didn't know there was such ire for this one honestly x) and Dionne & Friends' 'That's What Friends Are For' (which would have made 2 worst wins on the trot for Stevie Wonder if it had topped the list).

My votes for this week:

Best:

Bananarama - Venus

Bon Jovi - You Give Love A Bad Name

Cutting Crew - (I Just) Died In Your Arms

Michael Jackson - Bad

Steve Winwood - Higher Love

I nearly put both of the Bon Jovi songs on here and I don't even care that much for Bon Jovi in general, these are just their 2 best songs! But just about decided to put Steve Winwood in over 'Livin' On A Prayer' (even though I prefer the James Vincent McMorrow cover). 'With Or Without You' and 'Sledgehammer' also just missed out.

Worst:

Atlantic Starr - Always

Club Nouveau - Lean On Me

Heart - Alone

Whipping out another hot take but 'Alone' has just always kinda rubbed me the wrong way for some reason. 'Always' was the worst offender of the insomnia cures of the week and think the Club Nouveau one is a pretty tacky cover.

Bon Jovi - You Give Love A Bad Name

Bruce Hornsby & The Range - The Way It Is

Cutting Crew - (I Just) Died In Your Arms

Cyndi Lauper - True Colors

Heart - Alone

Berlin - Take My Breath Away

Bon Jovi - Livin' On A Prayer

Heart - Alone

U2 - With Or Without You

Whitesnake - Here I Go Again

Venus, Sledgehammer, Bad just missing out. I had only heard the piano sample from The Way It Is before and it was a great discovery.

Michael Jackson and Siedah Garrett - I Just Can't Stop Loving You

Peter Cetera and Amy Grant - The Next Time I Fall
