January 25Jan 25 Author I have no electricity due to Storm Eowyn so the results are suspended until I get it back.
January 26Jan 26 Oh no - hope it won't take too long to get your power back. D: Only lost one more of my votes since my last post, 'The Way You Move' which is not quite OutKast's best work but still a tune. We have cleared out some trash with '3', 'Don't Stop The Party' and 'Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)' all out. Nothing else that got particularly close to my votes but shoutout to 'Everything Has Changed' as it was a moment witnessing it live as a surprise song with surprise guest Sheeran at the Eras tour.
January 29Jan 29 Author Power is restored. :) 37 points Propellerheads with David Arnold – On Her Majesty's Secret Service iQueLYI1Ljs This was part of an album of reinterpretations of James Bond theme songs by David Arnold featuring artists such as Leftfield, Pulp and Iggy Pop as well as Propellerheads on this one.
January 29Jan 29 Oh great you're back. :P I don't think I've heard this Propellerheads 'song' before and I wish it had stayed like this until now. Just a pointless noise imo.
January 29Jan 29 NOOOO how did I miss this one? Completely skimmed over it I would've given it over 20 points
January 29Jan 29 Author 38 points B-15 Project featuring Crissy D and Lady G – Girls Like Us Michael Jackson - Rock With You Tom Jones and The Cardigans - Burning Down The House Simply Red - Sunrise 5X-Mrc2l1d0 Originally offered to Karen Carpenter, this song gave Michael Jackson his third solo US number 1. He has one more single left. Tom Jones and Simply Red both appear for the second and last time while The Cardigans still have one more chance to make the semi-finals.
January 29Jan 29 Author 39 points Eternal - I Am Blessed Honeyz - Never Let You Down Hannah Laing with RoRo - Good Love Lasgo - Alone Queen - You're My Best Friend HaZpZQG2z10 Written by John Deacon about his wife, this is taken from Queen's classic album 'A Night At The Opera' and is also track 6 on their Greatest Hits. I think John and his wife are still together. Alone was Lasgo's follow-up to their better known single 'Something'. We have two girl groups here, I Am Blessed was the sixth out of twelve top 10 hits for Eternal while Never Let You Down is one of two number 7s for Honeyz, both with the word 'down' in the title. The second is still to come.
January 29Jan 29 Author 41 points Cast - Live The Dream Major Lazer featuring Nyla and Fuse ODG - Light It Up (remix) Supertramp - The Logical Song Harry Styles - Adore You kln_bIndDJg From 1979, this is Supertramp's highest charting single. A cover by Scooter in 2001 took the song as high as number 2. Live The Dream was the last of six consecutive top 10 hits for Cast from 1996 to 1997.
January 29Jan 29 Glad you're OK to resume this Rollo. A while after the second one, the third of my votes has dropped out with 'Good Love', the only song from 2010 onwards that I voted for. 'What You're Made Of' is my next favourite since I last commented, although I also like the other side of the 'Theme From M.A.S.H.' double-A which is Fatima Mansions' cover of '(Everything I Do) I Do It For You', and has to be heard to be believed!
January 29Jan 29 Argh, four of my scoring songs have just dropped out in the last two posts! Cast, Lasgo, Queen and Supertramp (although thanks to Scooter for initially bringing this song to my attention!)
January 30Jan 30 Cast had an amazing run of singles in the 90s, with the gorgeous 'Live The Dream' and 'Walkaway' being the two absolute standouts. I'm glad I wasn't the only one to give them points!
January 30Jan 30 Author 42 points Betty Boo - Doin' The Do The Carpenters - Only Yesterday Celine Dion - A New Day Has Come Maroon 5 - Sugar Elvis Presley - Burning Love evETS8_WFGE From 1975, this was the sixth out of seven top 10 hits for The Carpenters. Elvis Presley had many hit singles but only two of them peaked at number 7 and Burning Love, from 1972, was the one that got some votes. Betty Boo, Celine Dion and Maroon 5 all lose the second of their two songs.
January 30Jan 30 Author 43 points Billie Eilish - Wildflower Genesis - Follow You Follow Me Matrix & Futurebound featuring Max Marshall – Control Roxette - The Look DyDRXbP1MaY Reduced to a trio following the departure of Steve Hackett, Genesis' sound was veering away from prog rock and this more radio friendly song gave them their first top 10 single. Billie Eilish's three songs have all been eliminated but Roxette have one left.
January 30Jan 30 Author 44 points Kelly Clarkson - Underneath The Tree Fun Boy Three - Our Lips Are Sealed Elton John - Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting Dannii Minogue - Put The Needle On It Mini Viva - Left My Heart In Tokyo Roxette - Almost Unreal Republica - Drop Dead Gorgeous Whigfield - Think Of You QhVhK-VVeXo Our Lips Are Sealed was co-written by Terry Hall and Jane Wiedlin and was first recorded by the latter's group, The Go-Go's. Their version only got to number 47 but Fun Boy Three's did much better, giving the short lived group their fourth and final top 10 hit. Roxette's second song didn't survive much longer than the first one. Kelly Clarkson's Christmas record reached its peak just a few weeks ago, she has one song to come as does Elton John.
January 30Jan 30 Author 45 points All Saints - War Of Nerves Blur - Stereotypes Faithless - Mass Destruction Michael Jackson - Ben Lulu and The Luvvers - Shout Queen - One Vision Pet Shop Boys - Can You Forgive Her? Donna Summer - I Don't Wanna Get Hurt -OGd4gplxQM With lyrics inspired by Martin Luther King Jr, this was the opening track on Queen's 1986 album, 'A Kind Of Magic'. They now have just one of their four number 7s left. It's an all star line-up on 45 points, I'm sorry I couldn't give the youtube pick to either Faithless or the Pet Shop Boys. Michael Jackson follows Billie Eilish today in losing the third of his three songs.
January 30Jan 30 Author 46 points Vanessa Amorosi – Absolutely Everybody Scouting For Girls - She's So Lovely The Strokes - 12:51 LPAVDHo1Elc From 2003, this was the first of two top 10 hits for the American band. Four years earlier, Vanessa Amorosi had her only top 40 single with Absolutely Everybody. She's So Lovely was the debut single by Scouting For Girls in 2007.
