Taylor Swift - Cruel Summer Ari was unlucky to stall at #2 with 71k+ sales last year, strong numbers for all the top 3. 2020 01. Dua Lipa - Don't Start Now 02. The Weeknd - Blinding Lights 03. Roddy Ricch - The Box Dua and The Weeknd were both killing the 80s synth throwback sound! 'The Box' did so well on the Billboard Hot 100, 11 weeks at #1 iirc. That remains an earworm. 2015 01. Hozier - Take Me to Church 02. Taylor Swift - Blank Space 03. Tchami - Promesses (feat. Kaleem Taylor) Oh I've not thought about 'Promesses' in a while but I really liked that at the time. 2010 01. Lady Gaga - Bad Romance 02. Owl City - Fireflies 03. Plan B - Stay Too Long 'Fireflies' was a pretty unique #1 :wub: 'Replay', that current chart-topper, is a great time capsule with the "iPod stuck on replay" lyric. I don't think I cared that much about 'Stay Too Long' at first but grew to love it. 2005 01. The Killers - Somebody Told Me 02. Soul Central - Strings of Life (Stronger on My Own) (feat. Kathy Brown) 03. Uniting Nations - Out of Touch 'Somebody Told Me' is my favourite song by The Killers :wub: The house production, vocals and lyrics of 'Strings of Life' are pretty uplifting. I knew the Uniting Nations version of 'Out of Touch' before the original so still has a special place in my heart, an infectious melody. 2000 01. January 17, 20251 yr Those top 3 sales from this time in 2024 really set the tone for much of the year, with plenty of competition and high figures at the top. Feels like a distant memory now sadly. Also Sophie could have been a long running number 1 with the same level of streams this year.
