January 23Jan 23 I've only seen Dune: Part 2 and Wicked so need to activate cinephile mode and catch up on the rest  thrilled for Ariana and Cynthia for their great performances in the latter!
January 23Jan 23 Yes... that's ANOTHER Diane Warren nomination in Original Song SHE WILL GET IT ONE DAY!!!!!!!! (Seriously though, I'm a bit annoyed at that Original Song list... 'Kiss The Sky' deservedddd!!!!)

January 23Jan 23 Emilia Perez is astoundingly terrible really and I cannot fathom how it’s nominated for anything let alone Best Picture. Zoe Saldana is about the only good thing about the entire mess so I’m not against her nom I suppose. Enjoyable for being a complete mess in a camp way but I truly truly am baffled at all the awards love for it. Obv rooting for Ari and Cynthia, but Mikey Madison and Demi Moore would both be fantastic Best Actress winners.
January 23Jan 23 Crazy seeing The Substance being a five time Oscar nominated movie, something I never could've imagined that for a body horror film when I first saw it, and definitely didn't see a Best Director nod for it coming *.* Yet to see Emilia Perez so my thoughts on that dominating are TBC , but wonderful to see Nosferatu get some recognition, Sing Sing deserved much more but pleased it at least got recognised in some way as I feared it may be snubbed. Challengers looks a notable snub on first glance, think that definitely should've got one for Score.
January 24Jan 24 @1882569673352605772 I... did not know this about this movie... Kinda disappointed in Selena and Zoe tbh :(
January 24Jan 24 emilia perez is a bold and brilliant film, not for the karens but a great film so sure not everybody will get it
January 24Jan 24 Yeah that video feels like a conspiracy theory to me Question - in theory couldn’t Cynthia and Ariana repeat their nominations for the same roles next year?
January 24Jan 24 emilia perez is a bold and brilliant film, not for the karens but a great film so sure not everybody will get it Another instance where you categorise everyone as a certain kind of person because people disagree with you. Does it not get tiring? And then when anyone confronts you you never even respond so what's the point? Emilia Perez in my opinion is an objectively awful film which handles sensitive subject matter in a terrible terrible way, I agree with Liam that Zoe is the only good thing about it but for it to sweep like this is utterly baffling imo.
January 24Jan 24 Even if we look past the fact it’s completely insensitive to both Mexican culture and trans issues, the film is a mess. It’s like someone put their crazed unfocused dream as a prompt into AI and asked it to make a movie from it. Like yeah it’s somewhat entertaining in terms of being absolutely awful but the most nominated foreign language film EVER?! Conspiracy theories are basically the only way that any of this makes sense  The songs aren’t good at all, the plot is a mess. I suppose at least they actually cast a trans actress and she’s the first trans nominee for an Oscar, that is a historic moment to take away from all this. But I don’t think it’s a deserved nomination and the fact they cast a trans actress is about the only thing they got right about any of representing the trans experience. And I don’t care if that is “woke”, at a time like this for the transgender community, the last thing anyone needs and the very last thing we should be rewarding is a trans film as clumsy and tone deaf as this. And that’s not even mentioning thr songs “hello nice to meet you I’d like to know about sex change operations :)” “my dad smells like guacamole :)” idc if they’re supposed to be “comedy”, yeah they’re funny because none of the cast can sing and they’re just random as f*** not because it’s a well written musical.
January 24Jan 24 Yeah that video feels like a conspiracy theory to me Question - in theory couldn’t Cynthia and Ariana repeat their nominations for the same roles next year? Six people have been nominated twice for playing the same character in the history of the Academy Awards, but it hasn't happened in back to back years since the 1940s which was obviously a very different landscape for the Oscars. I don't think anything like this has happened where it's all been filmed in one go and artificially split into two films. It would be unprecedented (which I think is why the studio are going all out trying to secure noms for the first instalment) but I guess strange things happen every year. The new songs they've written could be undeniable Oscar clips for all we know!
