I'm in the minority that loves that Jimin song but its chart manipulation really is getting out of hand now! The OCC must surely know what's going on but I guess they have no way of proving it so their hands are tied.

lover live in Paris is a completely separate album than Lover

Its only 8 songs

It has already charted actually

44k vinyl for a random live album is crazy, I thought she was closer for the way OOCC worded it.

Well Taylor currently trouncing the competition would probably have less casual interest in the articles :P

The OCC are referring to it as potentially being Taylor's 13th #1 so it's definitely being classed separately to the main album.
Sales of live albums only get combined if they are packaged with the studio album, this Taylor one isn't as it was only released as a standalone vinyl.
Thanks for clarifying Robbie, I thought it would be something like this, albeit it’s a stupid rule imo.
The rule was added to the 2007 version of the chart rules. Prior to that update, the rule applied only to remix albums. The rule from 2007 changed to "remix and live albums" and currently states;

4.4 Remix and Live Albums

Transactions of remix or live albums will not be combined with sales of the original studio version.

The "remix albums" rule dates back to 1990 as there were a number of remix albums being released at the time and with sales being combined with the original, it was seen as distorting the market. The same reasoning also used to be used with regards to deluxe albums, until that rule was removed around 2010/2011. I'm not sure why the rule was extended to live albums. I don't recall live albums being that numerous, nor their sales distorting the market, around the mid 00s.

It's worth noting that these rules only apply to the album chart. For the singles chart, sales of live versions of tracks can be combined with the studio versions as they are deemed to be an alternative version of the song.

Don’t know how NLU isn’t number 1 on the official chart and the gap is still that big. Lola was number 1 only 3 days with much smaller lead, he will be 4 with a much bigger lead 330k today and 300k yesterday and I guess something similar for tomorrow which still count) he’s over her on AM for a while and bigger YT

I mean I know also Amazon and so are to be counted but still…

The Wednesday midweek miss Tuesday's streams, so by that point NLU had only spent one day at the top on Spotify and the other 3 days between 20-11. On Monday's midweeks which missed Sunday streams it was at 12 so the Monday streams gave it a big boost for Wednesday.

Of course, I remember now - so that means Taylor will have #1s with 10 consecutive charting albums and 13 of her last 14, with only folklore - The Long Pond Studio Sessions missing out.

how is Taylor's swift album all physical? aren't the songs 'streamable'?

the album is only available physically, it's a special edition live recording

bizarrely all eight songs from the album are all available digitally as standalone singles, but not the album as a whole

presumably whatever streaming those are getting is just going towards the original Lover album

probably it is not released as an album digitally but the streams are all credited individually. i think if the songs are different version than Lover album they shouldnt be counted for this one. Also i thought there was multiple counts for songs which are on multiple albums....

Well no because the long pond sessions . Charted separately at number 4 and between lover (live from paris) original release [ if we exclude that then midnights ] and speak now (TV) so only 4 albums ago

This one belatedly going to #1 is extending the run of 9 #1s in a row from 'Red' to 'Midnights' to 10 in a row.

Just heard the ad for the chart today on radio 1 and not like us isn’t even mentioned, it’s between Lola and Gaga as per the ad which seems odd

I would guess the promo was recorded before Kendrick became a clear contender. If not it's likely Thursday streams were underestimated, or the Beeb believe Gaga is a bigger draw to the show than KDot

Long Pond Studio Sessions canae be a real name!!!!

I’m confused how it’s funny? Long pond studio is the name of the place it was recorded
