Following the same structure used in the Dance and Electronic forum, we are going to run the same weekly poll for new pop and country releases in 2025. Each week, 8 new releases are selected to go head to head, with one weekly winner which will then go up against future weekly winners later in the year at the end of each quarter of the year, and then again at the end of the year to determine the ultimate winner of 2025.

Last week's results;

Lady Gaga – Abracadabra [ 38 ] ** [74.51%]

LISA feat. Doja Cat & RAYE – Born Again [ 8 ] ** [15.69%]

Ava Max – Lost Your Faith [ 2 ] ** [3.92%]

Rachel Chinouriri with sombr – All I Ever Asked [ 2 ] ** [3.92%]

Alice Chater – Bed Of Lies [ 1 ] ** [1.96%]

Caity Baser – Watch That Girl (She's Gonna Say It) [ 0 ] ** [0.00%]

d4vd – One More Dance [ 0 ] ** [0.00%]

Elton John & Brandi Carlile – Who Believes In Angels? [ 0 ] ** [0.00%]

==========

Total Votes: 52

Was it ever in any doubt? Lady Gaga scores the highest voted song so far in 2025 with a huge lead ahead of the rest. Nobody else ever stood a chance last week! :lol:

Anne-Marie – Don't Panic

Not to be critical but Olivia Dean, Selena Gomez, and Grace Davies seem like odd omissions!

I went with Sabrina

Out of interest, what's the process for deciding which 8 songs are eligible every week? Backstreet Boys seems like a very random inclusion here :lol:

I take these comments on board, and let me say it's nothing to do with preference or favouritism.

I try to include something for everyone, and I can't just have a list of 8 female singers every week, so I need to add some male pop which is rare to find these days.

I did originally include James Arthur but switched to BSB for a change.

My shortlist also included Grace Davies, Jessica Winter and Ayra Starr which I sadly had to omit.

We have been running the Dance Track of the Week poll the same way for the past few years now.

8 songs is really not enough to warrant ALL of the pop releases we get each week, so it is really just the best we can make do with, if the pop moderators want to weigh in with feedback that is most welcome too!

Massive BSB fan and it's a good song, had to vote for it even though I prefer High Fashion. Sabrina's is a tune
I think a good variety of the new releases is a good idea, I’d definitely make sure to include the main big releases (i.e refer to New music Friday playlist on Spotify). If it’s a quiet week for releases then like has been done just do a bit of a variety of male and female :)
My comment wasn't a criticism, I was just curious as to what the criteria were for including a release. The eight most prominent releases of the week seems fair, I was just surprised to see the BSB listed!

Oh I know it's not a criticism, but it's still generally a shortsighted viewpoint in my opinion when people don't bat an eye at the sight of 90's popstar Louise making an appearance in the same poll. But when it's a male pop artist, especially one who may have peaked long ago, it causes a stir with some people most weeks. :rolleyes: The choice to include BSB was one I thought would surprise people and that's the reason it's in there, to add variety, so as not to just showcase the "Radio 1" pop artists every week.

Anyway, onto business...

This week's rankings;

1. Sabrina Carpenter – Busy Woman

2. Louise – Confession

3. Say Now – DON'T TEXT DON'T CALL

4. Perrie – Rollercoaster

5. Backstreet Boys – Hey

6. Addison Rae – High Fashion

7. Anne-Marie – Don't Panic

8. Sam Smith – Love Is A Stillness

I'm sure some would choose 8/8 female artists for these polls every week, it is what it is. (I might have voted for Jessica Winter but can't argue with the selection.)

That said, I didn't have any huge favourites this week from NMF at all, not just in this poll. Addison got my vote here.

I went for Sabrina.

My two cents on this is to have the 8 songs that you choose Wardy, but then have a 9th option of "Other (Please Comment Your Choice)" or something?

oop didn't really like any here but i echo the glaring omissions of Grace Davies and Jessica Winter which all have good releases

Voted for Addison but didn’t love anything.

I enjoyed the Anne-Marie track more than I expected so would put that 2nd. :lol: And Perrie 3rd. The Sabrina song seems quite bland to me, and I do enjoy her 4 big hits to date.
