Everybody Hurts is one of my favourite songs by probably my favourite band ever. It’s also massively important to my wife and I. It was there for us during our baby son’s long illness and, after it h

VOTING IS NOW CLOSED Thanks to the 43 people who voted. That's eight more than in the number 6 single final last year. The results will start later this week.

Love 'Lucky Man' 🥰 best Urban Hymns single for sure.

Not when 'The Drugs Don't Work' exists!

For me it's TTDW > Sonnet > BSS > Lucky Man, but all four songs are incredible. It's a shame the rest of the album is a let down!

Two classic songs there from Alanis and The Verve.

And controversy from Mango! I do agree that the singles are disproportionately outstanding compared to the rest of the album. But I've got to give a shout out to Velvet Morning at least, it's gorgeous.

Also didn't realise til reading Wikipedia just now that Urban Hymns sold quarter of a million copies in its first week, I thought it was a bit of a sleeper hit.

Totally agree on 'Velvet Morning' - in fact I'd put it in my top 4 of the album ahead of 'Lucky Man'!

Urban Hymns was a huge album, perhaps not a seminal album in the same way as OK Computer earlier that year, but I think it captured a changing mood post-Britpop. The Verve's split soon afterwards with little new material since may not have helped its legacy.

some great tracks out, and some absolute classics too, so I'll mention the ones that would have got big points from me: Pet Shop Boys, Madonna, Al Green, Toploader, The Doors, with mid points for cardigans Dre, Beach Boys, Verve.

26. Kelly Clarkson - Because Of You 1052pts

Writers - Kelly Clarkson, David Hodges, Ben Moody

Top scores - Alex! 50, ...ready for it 48, Lee_J11 48, Viper* 48

Low scores - Julian_ 2, Jade 3, Mack 3, King Rollo 3, Chez Wombat 3

Average score - 24.5

From 2005, this was Kelly Clarkson's fourth top 10 single. She had written the song at the age of sixteen after her parents' divorce and had tried to include it on her debut album. It ended up on her second one, 'Breakaway'. One 50 point score means it wins a tie-break over Lucky Man.

I could perfectly erase anything released fromThe Cardigans. Not a fan sorry.

This is the most recent song in the final and the only one from the last nine years. It's still in the UK Top 100, at number 87 in today's chart. Jade is not the first Jade to have a number 7 single. An American group called Jade reached that position with 'Don't Walk Away' in 1993. No one voted for that one in the first round.

24. Alan Walker - Faded 1081pts

Writers - Alan Walker, Jesper Borgen, Anders Froen, Gunnar Greve Pettersen

Top scores - danG 50, Jason 50, CowTzy 50, JackJones 50

Low scores - dandy* 2, Brer 2, marcinjaro 3

Average score - 25.1

And here's the second most recent song. Four voters put Faded at the top of their vote, the most so far. Madonna's 'Get Together' had three 50 point scores. It features uncredited vocals by the Norwegian singer Iselin Solheim and its video has 3.7 billion views on youtube, putting it in the top 20 most viewed music videos.

And now two excellent modern-era songs. Granted Faded is over 10 years old now but still sounds pretty timeless to me!

Ouch, a few of my big scorers gone in the past couple days. Love the Beach Boys so had to give them a big scorer even if it's not one of their best tracks and Gran Turismo is a great album from the Cardigans, Erase/Rewind definitely a highlight on it. Da Funk is awesome, peak French house, better than Around The World imo. Also sad to lose Lucky Man, Light My Fire and Faded.

Two more of my big pointers out with Da Funk and Light My Fire, the latter I discovered way too late after only knowing Will Young's cover for ages, it's 60s psychedelia done best and the former is a great anthem to listen to while walking around dressed as a dog x

The two modern songs were good picks and that feels about right for them both, Angel of my Dreams probably the most interesting song to come from an X Factor winner,

Such a shame Alan Walker is still a Top 40 one-hit wonder up till now when his team is no longer part of Sony Music. Regardless his questionable production skills, he's one of the DJs with the best PR, resulting him to be loved by many Asians.

2 of my faves revealed yesterday but the show must go on. P

I always tend to vote for the most recent ones and it always be that way.

JADE is my favourite from yesterday's dropouts. I had faith in her solo career as she has great taste in pop music from what I've seen in interviews and she didn't disappoint. Her BRITs performance was my favourite from this year's ceremony.

So this is our favourite number 7 single from the 1960s. It was the Supremes' third top 10 hit and the fourth of twelve US number 1 singles. Only two voters put the song in their bottom ten.

From 2006, this was the debut single by the Arkansas band. It remains as their only single to make the top 30. They are still going and released their sixth album, 'Real Power', last year.

From the year before comes another debut single by an American band, this time from New York. It remains as their only single to make the top 40. They split up in 2011 and got back together ten years later but are still to release any new music.
