April 8Apr 8 Feels ever so slightly weird now they're a member down and after the allegations...Year of the Snake is sounding interesting though, definitely lacking a big hook but I am enjoying the slow build.

This is limp and offers absolutely nothing — it feels more like an unnecessary side-project by Win and Régine than an Arcade Fire record.
May 10May 10 I haven’t listened fully but flicked through the tracks on Apple and absolutely nothing I heard made me want to listen to more
May 11May 11 The two singles haven't really made me want to listen to it more and the reception is pretty lukewarm so may well be the first album I give a miss - even if the allegations hadn't happened, it just feels like it's missing anything standout. I know their last few eras weren't the best received but they all had memorable singles at least!
May 11May 11 Yeah, the album is OK, but nothing special. It's a long way short of the quality of Funeral.

I know their last few eras weren't the best received but they all had memorable singles at least! This is how I feel about the entire thing — although it does give me the ick to think that I would have continued happily listening to it and ignored the allegations if it had been good. It's a long way short of the quality of 'Reflektor' (seems more appropriate — much as I do love that album), and even compared to 'WE', it's shoddy
May 12May 12 Yeah, R K Fire have been rapidly losing their spark since Reflektor for me, I’m glad I managed to catch them live before this whole shitshow at least. Also giving this album a miss, the singles are very forgettable and seemed like a rehash of their sound without adding anything new or remotely exciting to it.

It still feels inherently Arcade Fire while exploring completely different sonics for them. It's an album full of gems. It's been diminishing returns since sadly

May 13May 13 Same here, I can't bring myself to listen to them since the allegations. I enjoyed bits from Everything Now and WE, but it was very much diminishing returns, so I don't really feel like I'm missing much by not even giving this a listen.

May 21May 21 TBH, the album isn't really bad by itself (the title track and 'I Love Her Shadow' are great) but it is not strongly helping them at this point in their career. But then, mellow albums can easily go "badly" so perhaps Pink Elephant is one of those.
