Each week, 8 new releases are selected to go head to head, with one weekly winner which will then go up against future weekly winners later in the year at the end of each quarter of the year, and then again at the end of the year to determine the ultimate winner of 2025.

Last week's results;

Wet Leg - catch these fists [4]

The Marías - Back To Me [3]

Sleep Token - Caramel [3]

BABYMETAL (feat. Poppy) - from me to u [2]

HAIM - Everybody's trying to figure me out [2]

The Hives - Enough Is Enough [1]

Djo - Potion [0]

Rachel Chinouriri - 23:42 [0]

Each week, choose one song only that you feel is your favourite from the selection of releases that week. If you wish to post a rate of the selection of songs in the thread, please feel free to do so.

Here are this week's contenders:

Arcade Fire - Year of the Snake

Ghost - Lachryma

Green Day - Smash It Like Belushi

hard life - othello

Lana Del Rey - Henry, come on

A somewhat reluctant vote for Ghost. I had hoped Pulp's new one would be great but it's really underwhelming. Same for Arcade Fire and Green Day.

Personal favourites this week -

Garbage - There's No Future in Optimism

SNAYX - Strut

Slung - Class A Cherry

Garbage does feature in the corresponding Pop Track of the Week poll if you want to throw a vote to that one there.

Oh really? Seems weird having them in there but I'll swing by. Cheers

This week's rankings;

  1. Pulp – Spike Island

  2. The Amazons – Night After Night

  3. MARINA – CUNTISSIMO

  4. Green Day – Smash It Like Belushi

  5. Ghost – Lachryma

  6. Arcade Fire – Year Of The Snake

  7. Lana Del Rey – Henry, come on

  8. hard life – othello

Lana as single of the year contender already <3 best by miles and miles and miles and miles <3

Lana gets my vote easily. (Arcade Fire would be my choice from the bands here whose best albums were 20+ years ago)

This was quite difficult, quite a few good tracks! Really enjoy "Night After Night" & "Lachryma" in particular. Went with The Amazons!

Not heard anything from WhoOddy about his absence over Easter, but I guess I'll substitute for him by post in the weekly poll tomorrow (meaning six days voting time instead of seven sorry).
