Camp Claude being Rich makes a lot of sense - I wasn't sure the spoken word part gelled that well with the rest of the song on first listen but it clicked with me more on my second listen albeit still just missed out on my votes.

AllStarBySmashMouth was behind the very sweet 'Classroom Dreamer' by Mili, a group based in Japan. They have picked up three sets of votes so far. AllStarBySmashMouth's own points particularly favour the longest entry in the contest, so Thomas Dolby now rises out of the bottom 5. Saint Etienne advance from 9th place to 7th following a generous 10 point top up. Camp Claude receive a bronze medal and level up to none other than the bronze position on the leaderboard. Dobbo brought a nu disco flair to the contest with French group L'Impératrice. They claim the music that interests them most is "albums that sold about 500 copies in the 70s". Dobbo's votes help to widen the gap between the top 2 of chiaroscuro and Yndling, as he awarded the former 12 points and the latter 7. Turnover continue to progress well as they're currently joint 10th with Polly Scattergood, following a silver medal for the former and 4 points to the latter. Dobbo generously awards Glazyhaze 8 points so I am now back on the podium. Elsewhere, AURORA rises to 7th and Ruby Haunt inch ever closer to a double figure points tally.

Funnily enough I always shied away from sending it to BJSC because the talking part is quite weird with the rest of the track. But there’s no version without it and the rest of it is so lovely, the chords remind me of All The Lovers.

It was No.13? I think in my 2022 end of year chart but it’s an older track than that. I heard it on an advert that year, for Versace, and found it striking:

Next up is Doctor Blind who brought '300 Dreams' to this edition! After are a California-based duo whose music has intriguingly been described as a cross between Massive Attack and Michelle Branch. '300 Dreams' is doing very well in 6th place right now. Doctor Blind's favourite entry was from Mili who now rise from the bottom 3 into the top 20. His silver medal for Saint Etienne allows them to advance from 8th place into 4th at this stage. Ruby Haunt receive their first medal position of the night so they are another who escape the bottom 3, tying Billie Piper at the moment. Doctor B cuts down the lead between the top 2 from 6 points to 4, as he awards 7 to Yndling and 5 to chiaroscuro. Elsewhere in the top 10, NewDad rise to 7th and and Turnover re-enter in 10th.

Next up it is revealed that Herbs was behind British singer Polly Scattergood. The track chosen was 'Nitrogen Pink', taken from her self-titled debut album and it brought a quirky, textured flavour to the contest. At the moment she sits at unlucky #13 on the scoreboard, but is only 6 points away from cracking the top 10. Herbs' favourite of the contest was 'Swimming Lessons', so 12 points for Camp Claude sends them into joint 4th place, behind four songs that have all been snubbed here! A silver for yeule advances her from 14th place to 12th at this stage. thúy finally picks up some more support - to date receiving a gold medal, Herbs' bronze and also a 1 so far! These 8 points push her out of the bottom 3.

Camp Claude have now received two 12s in a row which pushes them up to 2nd place, just 4 points behind Yndling for the crown. Our current top 2 have the joint most 12s so far, with 3 apiece. Julian's second favourite entry was Thomas Dolby's 'Budapest By Blimp' which is bumped up from 17th to the top 15 at the moment. A bronze for Akira Galaxy tops up her tally to a round 50 points, which is enough for top 10 at the moment!
