Somebody probably has posted this a million times, but does anyone have a full list of when the charts weren’t broadcast for whatever reason (aside from the end of the year).

Yeah it's definitely happened before. I'll get all the info up as usual, though I have a concert to go to on Friday night too so it may not be until much later that the info posts arrive.

It isn’t usually, the way that the weekends have fallen this year means that they’re only separated by a weeks gap when usually there is a 2 week gap between the events

The show is not going ahead, but the chart is still being published. Info will be found on Suedehead's commentary when it's published.

31 August 97- Death of Princess Diana

9 April 2021- Death of Prince Philip

9 September 2022- Death of Elizabeth II

24 May 2024- Big Weekend

21 March 2025- Comic Relief run

Today- Big Weekend

I'm sure there were some during Big Weekends in the 2010s also but couldn't tell you which ones...

I wish they’d change the day of the official chart to Wednesday or Thursday so then there’d be no cancellations and the chart would more likely get played in full instead of them picking and choosing what songs to play

That'd involve either waiting 5-6 days to broadcast a chart, or changing the chart week (which won't happen as it's aligned with the global release day of Friday deliberately). Also guarantee it'd just get the same slot on any other day and they'd still have to skip stuff.

That’s what I mean. Change the chart week to either Thursday to Wednesday chart or Wednesday to Tuesday chart. It also used to be on Wednesdays until August 1969 when it moved to Sundays and besides, some new music does get released on Wednesday or Thursday

One thing i want to say in this discussion is that y'all are lucky to get a chart show anyway. Not to say you shouldn't be upset, but in America we have a somewhat equivalent of the big top 40, and it's terrible. Sometimes they just randomly throw in songs because why not. And like 50 million ads, all for a chart that nobody takes that seriously. The hot 100 gets an article about the top 10 on Monday and the full chart on Tuesday. No chart show. I mean, there's a reason why I'm here and not listening to an American one (also cause yall have a little better taste). Missing out a few times a year still means you get almost 50 more than you could get.

26 May 2013 was one of them I remember - 'La La La' was announced as the #1 and got a play, but that was about it.

23 May 2010 also was a Big Weekend and the number one did get a mention.

To be fair, Suedehead is definitely going to at least keep us posted with the info in its' place. But still I'll see if they do a chart recap at the end of the 5pm slot on Big Weekend tomorrow...

Even if it was a little late for the same reason!
