  • She's done over 4 MILLION units in the U.S. so has the highest first week sales of all-time there. Mind-blowing especially in today's market

Tulisa's The Female Boss didn't girlboss its way to a 35/100 Metascore for people to forget it's still lower than 143 (37/100) although yeah, 143 is the lowest rated among actual main pop girl albums

this is more mediocre than bad (I don't hate any of the tracks here nearly as much as, say, CANCELLED!, Actually Romantic, Eldest Daughter or Wood) but that's arguably even more damning than anything else given she was clearly attempting some kind of course correction here and even though they're better than much of the main album, if this is the "best" we're going to get from her nowadays that feels like quite a damning indictment of where she's at tbh

Perhaps we would indeed have a different conversation if she wasn’t releasing the same 5 songs in 25 different variants and deluxe Taylor editions talking about the same things every year pandering towards the same teenage demographic as a grown woman.

Get that coin and hope she writes whatever songs she likes etc. but let’s not pretend she’s still the same artist as she was before this mega stardom. Unreasonably large wealth tends to stop artists from being creative and pushing the boundaries. At the same time, I have much higher expectations because they can do literally whatever they want.

No need to take this so close to heart, people will indeed enjoy whatever they want to enjoy but I find it really hard to respect this lazy uninspired dump from a literal billionaire. Especially after the Sheeran saga.

100% agreed. But she was alwaaays about money, just like Ed Sheeran, obsessed with charts and positions and creating cookie cutter pop. She's not a good lyricist and just writes the same stuff year in, year out, with clunky metaphors about overdramatised showmances. She's honestly the worst of all pop girls. Immediate switch off if she comes on the radio for me.

After repeated listens, I've actually come to like all the songs on this encore - including Cleveland!

Yes, we know she can do so much better but generally, these songs are just as good as some tracks on previous eras & would easily find a place on past albums of hers.

I'm starting to think that the encore is going to be leading into Debut TV somehow. Listening to all 4 songs in order, it sounds like she's working her way back to the beginning:

Patient Zero - Tortured Poets Department/Midnights encoded

Cleveland! - Very Lover-lite

Pink Clouding - Synth pop, very 1989/Red TV (Message In a Bottle)

Babylon - Could easily fit the Fearless/Speak Now eras

That will then lead into Debut TV nicely as she will then be at the start & where it all began.

Im not so sure the closer we get to the 20th anniversary im starting to believe she might actually wait until its "21st birthday"

I don't know, I think she'll do Debut TV this year & do a 10 year anniversary edition of Reputation next year with the vault tracks before taking a well deserved break. Then she'll come back start of the 2030's with a brand new album which will be her 13th overall & I'm sure she'll want to do something big for that!

Definitely gone of the website now cds have already been dispatched, be interesting to see how long before the signed prints get sent

Finally heard the 4 new tracks on Thursday.

I really liked and enjoyed them all. 'Cleveland!' is so... fun. It's lyrically cringe, but I really think that is the entire point and how it's all just what her haters have said about her in the past. Fun song (the worst of the 4 but still fun).

Fun 4 new tracks!

Babylon has hit me like a train this week out of nowhere, listening to it outside of the album playthrough it really is so stunning.

Thank you someone actually saying it, Cleveland is supposed to be annoyingly cheesy, catchy and downright cringe thats the fun part about it
