I think Spotify would've tweeted already if the new Taylor opened with better streams overall than the previous.

12 tracks vs 31 was always gonna be an impossible ask 🤣

I think TTPD was the only the fourth time in UK singles chart history that an artist “sold “ 1 million cumulative units in week. (After Elton John twice and Will Young)

We could get a whole Top 6 over 50k in the singles if RAYE is stable and the Taylor tracks do well! It’s not that long since the biggest song of the week was under 50k.

Taylor whole top 12, all over 1m

Fate of Ophelia #1 with 2.2m, not sure how that compares to the biggest non-Christmas days ever

Wow Taylor!

I’ve just got back from the accompanying cinema release for the album, which exclusively has the music video for ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ for now and it was gorgeous. Hopefully this song continues to be massive past that impressive debut, despite the mixed reception to the album in general, as it’s the gem of the project

Fred Again at 42, Tame Impala up to a new peak of 67! D-Block Europe at 79

What was the first day top 3 for TTPD

They were:

  1. Fortnight - 1,675,220

  2. The Tortured Poets Department - 1,308,645

  3. So Long, London - 1,211,795

Average first day streams for TLOAS and TTPD in the UK

TLOAS - 1,563,256 average first day streams

TTPD - 706,435 average first day streams

  1. The Fate of Ophelia [2,267,587] {1}

  2. Elizabeth Taylor [1,820,645] {2}

  3. Opalite [1,757,421] {3}

  4. Father Figure [1,662,781] {4}

  5. Eldest Daughter [1,497,496] {5}

  6. Actually Romantic [1,497,235] {7}

  7. The Life of a Showgirl (feat. Sabrina Carpenter) [1,429,676] {12}

  8. CANCELLED! [1,420,263] {10}

  9. Wood [1,419,434] {9}

  10. Ruin The Friendship [1,415,617] {6}

  11. Wi$h Li$t [1,390,457] {8}

  12. Honey [1,180,457] {11}

Numbers in brackets is the tracklist placing of the track. Not as "track ordered" as I thought it would be! I think CANCELLED!, Wood and Wi$h Li$t have potential to climb and become the "stabilisers" of the album after the weekend. 'Opalite' I think will end up being the 2nd highest track from the album.

Cruel summer and anti hero aside she never been known for long running singles 🤣

I’m not sure how this narrative has been established - she does fine in the singles chart.

Wow those numbers are mental - like Christmas Day figures!!

I’m not a Taylor fan but do love a big seller for the chart!
