Sunday at 23:363 days Honestly shocked Lily is doing so well, I was expecting no single entries and maybe the album to go top 30 at most with no physical. I didn’t realise there was so much hype for her, No Shame seemed to confirm the streaming era would kill her chart career. Amazing to see a woman in her 40s, 2 decades into her career, doing so well in the streaming era.
Sunday at 23:443 days Have given the Lily album a listen tonight - I've not listened to any of her previous albums in full and although I loved a lot of her singles at the time I think some of them haven't aged that well so I wasn't really sure what to expect from this new one but was intrigued by the amount of buzz around it. To be honest a lot of it is not really my cup of tea sonically so I'm not quite as on board with the massive hype for it as I'd like but I definitely get why the narrative has attracted so much attention. Happy that 'Madeline' looks like it'll be one of her 3 charting songs though as that one was a highlight for me (the 3 I'd pick from the album ideally would be that, 'Ruminating' and 'Dallas Major' I think x) and it is really cool to see her making such a big comeback so long after her last album and even longer since the last album that actually did well chart-wise! I'm not so much a fan of the two highest charting songs at the moment unforch.Interesting to note that both of the album bombs this week are very much not just being represented by the first 3 songs on their tracklists even at this early stage - for both albums track 1 is the second highest charter and the other two are both later than track 3 on the albums (Dave having tracks 5 and 4 and Lily having tracks 7 and 5).

Monday at 08:582 days Everyone at work is talking about Lily's new album, which genuinely threw me as I also thought her music career was basically over after her 2018 comeback fizzled out quickly. I think it's a combination of the early-mid 2000s becoming 'cool' with a generation of people who were either born then or were kids, and the fact that her well-publicised ex was Jim from Stranger Things which is big enough that even if you weren't too familiar with Lily or her music before, it's likely you'll know who David Harbour is.If my theory is correct, watch a battle-scarred Katy Perry return sometime around the year 2030 and have a colossal comeback as if she never went away, at the same time the next young generation are wearing shutter shades, filming 'retro' stuff on early iPhones and getting really into the lore over the 2008 global recession.

Monday at 16:042 days I had never heard the name David Harbour until a couple of days agoI missed the post with the Dave sales - I guess that figure will only include one day of streams. His last album actually had quite a large dump of pure sales added at the end of the week iirc, it was on 26.9k in its Monday midweek update so this album will probably be beating that! Of course we don't know if that will happen again this time and the new album is not doing as well on streaming so probably still a tall order for it to match the full first week numbers but it's a pretty good start nonetheless especially given the steep decline in chart success the UK rap scene has had since his last album.edit: actually I might be thinking of his first album

Monday at 17:192 days Lily top 5 is pretty impressive streaming and digital only, if had physicals would probably challenging for top 2
Monday at 17:362 days Great to see The Clause finally release a debut album, 6 years after they signed to Sony and were dropped without releasing a single song! They were very briefly the Next Big Indie Band, but alas.
Monday at 17:392 days YES LILY! Wasn't expecting top 5! There's potential for it to climb top 3 as Bon Jovi won't have good streaming?
Monday at 17:422 days I'm guessing that somehow means Demi's album is not in the top 40, since it isn't mentioned as a new entry, or do they not always mention all new entries?!Surely, her results shouldn't be bad enough to not reach top 40, since it's #10 on Apple Music and must have some level of physical sales Edited Monday at 17:472 days by magnetic moon

David Harbour is well-known, but certainly not enough to influence the British charts of all rankings through an unconfirmed divorce from his ex-wife who was a big star almost 2 decades ago.For the same reason, Katy won't come back anywhere near the top of the charts unless the next album is undeniably a major return to form for her and helps her shrug the disdain/disregard the public has had for almost a decade now.
