I’ll welcome Thriller gaining a new peak

I'm old enough to remember when the Thriller video first debuted in 1983 and being terrified by it as an 8 year old! Was really surprised to learn recently that it only peaked barely in the top 10 at #10 at the time but I realise since that the Thriller album had been out a year at that time so most people would have already owned the song by way of the album which had already sold millions at that stage.

  • Think they’re still on ACR too. Would be higher if they’d been reset based on just Friday’s streaming data. Of course doesn’t mean they won’t get reset before Friday

Thriller did quite well for a post-album single and he did have 5 top 10 post-album singles from his Bad album. I ain’t counting Man In The Mirror as that peaked in 2009 following his death whereas the others peaked on first release. Calvin Harris also managed 9 top 10 singles from his 18 Months album and these were before streaming

Just spotted Nelly Furtado back in the chart at number 71 id like to see her back in the top 100 this Friday if she can hold on,

When did Maneater, Disturbia and Zombie become Halloween songs? And is Halloween the reason Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) is at number 61, too? Blinding Lights also a re-entry.

ever since streaming services included them prominently in halloween themed playlists which people put on as background music for their parties (and yes that's also why Sweet Dreams and Blinding Lights are back)

Yes the only one thats really Halloweeny past the title is disturbia 😬

Demi's album hasn't appeared in the chart this week yet, and it seems like the physicals which should have been shipped last week still haven't been dispatched, based on this post 8 hours ago on another forum:

"Has anyone from the UK received ANY orders from her website/Polydor? I'm in touch with CS for Universal and they're useless, giving me NO updates and nothing dispatched yet. "

Hopefully they come through in time for the 2nd week, and are enough for a #100 or above position haha

I know right. And what I would call a bonafide Halloween song, “Stay” by Shakespeare’s Sister, doesn’t even get a mention. It made the iTunes top 10 after it was used on strictly this weekend.

Bloody Mary by Lady Gaga re-entering the top 75, with the Halloween Theme by John Carpenter a new entry at 76. The Time Warp is at 79. These at least make more sense, but they are below the less spooky songs you mentioned.

It's really only the video for 'Stay' that's Halloweeny, I don't see how the song itself is?

Also maybe I'm missing something but what's 'Sweet Dreams' by Eurythmics got to do with Halloween? I haven't seen the video, is it that?

The song itself is really creepy! The video reflects the song. It’s a song about an obsessive lover. Although I wouldn’t call it a Halloween song, I do agree that it is more Halloweeny than many of those songs.

I remember hearing it on the radio and loving it because of how unique and frightening it was.

It fits perfectly with those crazed stalker horror films.

Can you imagine 'Stay' being played at parties?

Good point!

Poison by Nicole Scherzinger? CHILLING.

Better The Devil You Know by Kylie? THE HEIGHT OF SPOOK.

Pussy palace top 10 🙌🙌 thriller still top 5 because of those huge day 1 sales, the rest just clinging to top 40 like seems stupid to reset them now but be.a mockery if only thriller got reset,

The Subway almost out 😬

Lily so close to taylor on albums would be nice to see her take it but unlikely

Edited by 777666jason

Great to see Lily climb, hoping Olivia doesnt catch her and she gets a new peak!

Ooh the Halloween tracks almost out already, Thriller on 16k so I'd assume it'll miss top 10...

Lily is so close to Taylor! Thriller slipped two places since Monday not too bad.
