1 Wham

She is in good company

It is at no 143 when explicit songs are counted.

It will also probably drop during this week and then rise again next weekend.

Amazon Originals stay to just Amazon in the first year then will move to other platforms as well next year. The download they seem to be holding back until release week but yes there's always a download available via Amazon.

Amazon Christmas originals always chart so well because Amazon's streaming market jumps over Christmas, everyone does the whole 'Alexa play Christmas music' then Alexa spams whichever Christmas Original they are pushing (Kylie will also be on standard ratio meaning her streams will count 100% towards the chart whereas all the Christmas classics are on ACR (50% count towards the chart)

It's basically chart manipulation by Amazon to an extent because it plays all the time.

Is it the same with download purchases that it can only be done on amazon and it won't be allowed on itunes or kylies store?

Here in Ireland in general the amazon exclusives don't do that well so hopefully kylie can buck the trend by even a small amount.

Yes it'll only be on Amazon, however the Music Video will be available on Youtube so people can still listen outside of Amazon.

You can export Amazon music downloads to iTunes / Computer / Phone etc...

Keep climbing Kylie!!!

I'm hoping they drop a few digital versions on release week like Sam Ryder did.

Im hoping the same, im all for them going for everything but with it an amazon release there might be some restrictions.

There could be although Sam Ryder did drop another digital only version midweek and they seem to have allowed Kylie to sell the physicals directly on her store. Hopefully they allow multiple digital versions as at the end of the day having a Amazon music exclusive as the Christmas number 1 is great promo for Amazon.

Don't worry, they will have everything covered.

Kylie fans are used to downloading off Amazon for all her songs. We know what we are doing.

Maybe with Kylie been a bigger name they may have made some allowances.

Let’s hope it holds through the week with big rises each weekend as Christmas madness takes over. The UK cold snap this week is going to help ha ha.

Asked Alexa for ‘Christmas Music’ 3 different times today

1st - Mariah, Kylie, Michael Buble

2nd - Kylie, Wham, East 17

3rd - Kylie, Kelly Clarkson, Mariah

Queen Alexa doing her job - also seen a lot of friends saying they are putting decorations up this week so hopefully they’ll opt for the Alexa background music.

This time last year on 18th November 2024, in the Monday midweek update, Tom Grennan started at midweek #62 - then ended up at #83 in Friday's official chart. The higher midweek position but lower Friday position was a consistent thing throughout its chart life, and this is due to the fact that Amazon is on time with the data it reports whereas other streaming platforms such as Spotify are a day late - which creates the illusion of an Amazon song doing better in the midweeks than it would be if all data was present.

Comparing Tom's Monday midweek vs Friday position:

18/11/24 - #62 vs. 22/11/24 -#83

25/11/24 - #24 vs. 29/11/24 - #49

02/12/24 - #9 vs. 06/12/24 - #25

09/12/24 - #3 vs. 13/12/24 - #6

16/12/24 - #2 vs. 20/12/24 - #4

23/12/24 - #2 vs. 27/12/24 - #3

30/12/24 - #9 vs. 03/01/25 - #30

Similar happened with other Amazon releases, for example Sam Ryder:

50-26-12-04-04-02-02-56 [Monday midweek chart run]

88-50-23-12-10-02-02-85 [Friday official chart run]

and Jess Glynne:

37-12-04-04-04-03 [Monday midweek chart run]

63-28-13-09-04-03 [Friday official chart run]

Anyway based on Tom Grennan last year, there's a possibility that we could see XMAS in the midweeks today. If it's not in the Top 100, then that would highlight that it's off to a worse start. Fingers crossed!

A reason for posting those above chart run comparisons, is that if XMAS does show in the midweeks, just to manage expectations and that it would likely end up much lower in the chart by Friday (until we get a lot closer to Christmas time).

The only difference is Kylie doesn’t have the download available yet whereas the others did.

Obviously in Kylie’s case it makes perfect sense to hold back the download for fan buying on Christmas week.

The mids are always chaotic for Amazon Originals - there will be meltdowns on SH when she’s at #20 in the mids and drops to #56 🤣

Hopefully not because we’ve had years of Amazon originals now which always do the same thing. At least on Christmas chart week it shouldn’t fall as badly because she’ll have higher physical sales than Tom’s (2.4kish)

Not being funny, but a lot of them are stuck in 20 years ago and don't really know how the charts work lol

Hopefully Kylie fans are on it when it comes to downloading it (when we actually can). I'm sure they'll rally around it, but I noticed that Tom Grennan kind of flopped on downloads: 82-35-33-out. #33 coinciding with the week it was #3 in the official chart. He was only 468 sales behind Mariah, so if his fanbase had been more engaged with downloading he could have got to #2! But on the other hand, Sam Ryder did well on downloads, eventually: 43-48-2-1-out

They still can’t understand why an iTunes chart #1 means missing the Top 100 🤣
