November 12, 2025Nov 12 Danaelanda -> Daniel Land but with a few extra 'a's thrown in to make it sound less boring (South rebranding later added to make the name standout more)Danæviia -> Merging of old name with Avicii + 'æ' looks smoother than 'ae'as an aside I've only three more contests before the Danæviia brand accounts for 50% of my entries oh my..

November 13, 2025Nov 13 Even tho I've based Pestolia's (minimal) lore around pesto, that's actually completely unrelated to how I came up with the name - I started BJSC when I was at uni so it's just the name of my hometown mashed up with my uni city, plus -ia to make it sound more country-ish! I guess I could've merged them the other way round but the least clunky thing I can come up with is Brieldia and pesto outsells x
November 13, 2025Nov 13 I came up with the not-really-imaginative name 'Land of DW' at work, sitting in the middle of the DW team. Loved working in that team, my country name always makes me remember this nice time of my life.Never thought of changing it, it's perfect as it is 😂 (and it annoys me greatly when it's not capitalized properly). November 13, 2025Nov 13 I actually don't recall exact reasons, but I think it had to do something with me trying to have interpolation of word 'Bota' which means 'World' in Albanian, and without giving much thought I came up with Botanikka (now stylized as Bøtanikkä).And I can't even think of changing it now because it would feel as I would lose my identity in the contest, but if someone would hold a gun in my head and forced me to change it, I would say something like Novaé Noctyrna...I am a nocturne creature after all, so it would be fitting!!!
November 23, 2025Nov 23 Porphyroterra was the original name idea I had I think. It took me several years of spectating to build up enough courage to sign up, albeit under a different country name.Cumulonimbia is heavily based upon the latin name for thunderstorm clouds - cumulonimbus - which translates as 'heaped rainstorm'. I thought that it made a fitting name given my interest in weather and the fact that I always have my head in the clouds. In WMO code cumulonimbus is labelled as the ninth cloud type or CB9 / cloud nine. This is where the phrase 'being on cloud 9' stems from as cumulonimbus clouds are the tallest clouds on the planet, in the tropics they can even exceed 15 km in height and cause planes to have to divert (although I have flown through a line of thunderstorms and been on a plane struck by lighting once!) Anyway here is a picture of much less dangerous cumulus clouds I took a few months ago flying back from Spain.
