December 17Dec 17 Some of these results are hard to fathom - is there a particular cohort who normally vote but don’t? “Everything I Wanted” was my 40 this year oops!
December 17Dec 17 Yeah, gotta hope the business end of these results have been better than what we've had so far...I guess we like Bad Habits now? Cool I guess x

December 17Dec 17 Only 40 is wild for Everything I WantedKind of bizarre to see Sign of the Times so high too
December 17Dec 17 This is such a bizarre year of results! Best news is Starburster still being in. Also fully in favour of those big climbs for Sign Of The Times and Go.
December 18Dec 18 Author How about another big tumble from the top five to start off with? Losing a fair amount of support this year we have The Weeknd & Ariana's duet 'Save Your Tears' which is down to 30th after spending three straight years as a contender. It doesn't help that more recent material from Abel hasn't been quite so well received perhaps. We have quite a few gains in this section to make up for it however. Firstly completing their decade we have Mark & Bruno with one of the biggest hit singles of all time in 'Uptown Funk', a song that like with Hozier's in the last section really should've been placed in 2014 but precedent had allowed it to be delayed a year. It is the third year it has placed in the top 40 so pleasingly leaves out on a high.An indie fan fave is up next being the major breakthrough hit for Irish band Fontaines D.C. - 'Starburster' led their fourth and most successful album to date and was influenced by 90s trip-hop. Even more impressively up next we have a huge rebound for Avicii & Rita Ora - it is the first top 40 appearance for 'Lonely Together' which was the last hit Avicii had in his lifetime, leading his self-titled EP originally to be the first in a series of three before the idea was canned after his untimely passing. Perhaps a similar boost could be to come for Rita's other hit of 2017? Meanwhile Buzzjack has a new favourite Taylor Swift song. It's 'Anti-Hero', hi.The Zara Larsson new album effect gave 'Lush Life' a boost earlier on and this now extends to Clean Bandit collab 'Symphony', now spending a third year in the top 40. Likewise, Sam Fender's album impact gives 'Seventeen Going Under' a huge boost, now reaching a new peak in the top 40 for the first time. Some more dance efforts appear in this section with David Guetta's 'I'm Good' holding up well after its big second-year boost plus Gaga's 'Rain On Me' remaining her top hit. Bruno Mars has nothing to worry about with 'Uptown Funk' on its last year as he has a new hit collab entering high in the form of 'APT.', a duet with Rose of Blackpink which proved a much bigger smash than any of the group's work.30 05 384 Weeknd - Save Your Tears (Original / Ariana Grande Remix)04-05-05-30- // 1st, 2021 29 67 388 Mark Ronson (feat. December 18Dec 18 APT. Not top 20!Also that fall for Save Your Tears!!!!The top 10 is going to be interesting. Good to have a bit of a change-up though!Surprised Levitating is still in... and Cha Cha Cha Edited December 18Dec 18 by ElectroBoy
December 18Dec 18 Ugh that drop for ‘Save Your Tears’ Glad BuzzJack has gifted ‘Starburster’ a strong debut! Easily one of my favourite songs of last year. Both Fontaines and JADE briefly cameo in each other’s videos for ‘Starburster’ and ‘Angel Of My Dreams’, I wonder how high the latter will finish.
December 18Dec 18 Some decent songs in the top 20, but never heard of Christine And The Queens. What was th initial selection criteria of the songs, as I saw on the UK charts page that Christine And The Queens never had a single in the Top 100.

('Girlfriend' and Charli xcx collab 'Gone' also made the top 100 for Christine and the Queens)Although people were able to nominate anything. Plenty of my nominations during the earlier stages weren't top 40 hits!
December 19Dec 19 Compared to the generally superb 20-11 region from a year ago, this is a far weaker - and certainly less varied - top 20 than we had last time
Friday at 09:305 days Yeah the top 20 isn't full of diversity to be fair, but it's solid. Nothing majorly divisive. Also... The fall off of "Faded" needs to be studied. I think it's a perfectly pleasant song, how though it was voted 2nd best song of the decade a couple of years ago and now it's in free fall is shocking.
Friday at 11:355 days Yeah there's not much I actively dislike in there (probably just Levitating and Espresso), and a lot of the songs are good examples of their genre, it's just that it's mostly one genre only this year!A top 5 of Cha Cha Cha, Tilted, Escapism, Miracle and Angel Of My Dreams or Tattoo would still be a great outcome to the rate so 🤞
