The OCC obviously can't change anything, they just to display the data they receive, but it seems their fingers are crossed for Kylie.

Having the same number one for 3 years in a row mustn't be good for their PR!

Everyone is excited (for a god awful song) for Kylie but let’s all wait for the week 2 drop cos all you guys be buying this week only hahaha! Ellie 2.0

Kylie’s streaming sales this week will be roughly on a par with Brenda’s last year.

So I feel the two of them will be battling it out for 3rd place in the streaming chart this week.

And next week it could go either way: on the one hand Christmas classics might do better, on the other hand Amazon exclusives will take more of a priority (as discussed on countless occasions).

It'll likely get two weeks at the top if it does it this week, and then a 1-out (same as every other Christmas song - so it's hardly something to be ashamed of)

XMAS is hardly rubbish. It's a good catchy Christmas song with a great video and some easy choreography. You'd struggle to name any Christmas songs that people don't think are naff outside of Christmas - especially the classics that were even naffer back when they were first released!

‘Last Christmas’ should remain top 40 this year, so I imagine Kylie might as well.

There is a good summary of the race on the OCC web site.

The Christmas Number 1 race has been an intriguing battle so far, from Kylie's surprise early lead, to Together For Palestine's rallying online support, the battle is being hard fought. And now, th...

And that's not all. Last night (16 December), Kylie released an extended, acapella and instrumental version of XMAS and dropped the download price of the single to 59p.

Kylie's website was getting so many hits yesterday, that an automatic queue even formed before fans could enter and purchase the single. Demand is CLEARLY high.

Kylie’s views on YouTube seem to have really picked up!! Hoping for as many as possible before midnight tonight 🤩

XMAS is not a good song let's be honest, and the fact it's doing so good because of Amazon is ridiculous. I dont get why chart companies allow this and the playlisting situation.

Unsure what the issue is with XMAS on Amazon, but RE: the playlisting situation, from what Martin Talbot said to me (see above), there's no way for the OCC to track whether someone has clicked on a song or simply let the song play. It's sneaky. He said labels and streamers probably have that information but don't give it out.

Tbf its the same all year round with payolo (paying to be at the top of playlists)

Its just a lot more noticeable chartwise with amazon exclusive at christmas,

I agree the song is definetley in the lower half of kylie discography, but either way a christmas number 1 is still good for her 🩵

Who knows the trickery involved could be a way of the OCC doing something about playlists all together. The fact though is, this time of year, all people listen to is Christmas songs so they will always take over and depending how high you’re up in the playlists will help or hinder your chart position.

I do think XMAS is resonating on a larger scale than previous Amazon exclusives. When they covered the Christmas #1 race on This Morning yesterday, only two songs were mentioned - Kylie’s and Wham!’s. And one of them said “Wham’s had their turn, let Kylie have it”

Me too I just put a bet on! Hoping for £125 payout on Friday! 🤞

1) I don't think anyone cares about a second week drop

2) It's unlikely to have a severe drop (if any at all) as Amazon streams are going to be the most powerful next week.

Thank you to whoever keeps putting my posts together 😂 I'm afraid I reply as I go along!

Exactly! It’s not genuinely popular

‘Let’s be honest.’

I love ‘XMAS’. You are dressing your opinion up as fact.

I genuinely really love it X-M-A-S, it's really catchy. I think it is a bit naughty but then playlists are also ridiculous being counted towards the charts so if they get away with it then as far as I am concerned it's fair game.
