I really feel like a lot more people are aware of XMAS than previous Amazon Exclusives to be honest. She's been absolutely everywhere promoting Monday she was on breakfast shows, she had BBC News hosts trying to do the dance, ITV This Morning & Good Morning Britain were talking about it etc...Plus a stack of Radio promo and of course Strictly.

Obviously it's Amazon that has done the heavy lifting but being impartial she really has worked hard to get it out there and not solely relied just on the fanbase.

I'm so curious to see the total downloads, streaming and physical numbers. I think all 3 will be incredible - Could have even done more than 8k physicals which is crazy in comparison to other Amazon Exclusives.

So long as Kylie crosses 50k, she should be safe for number 1 seeing as Wham’s streams are down from this time last year

Just watched Kylie's XMAS music vid. Yeah I really liked the song. I'm here for Kylie getting that UK xmas no 1.

She’s coming for Sam Ryders 9,000 downloads then!! Amazing

This has definitely had the most interest from casuals. My extended family is aware of the song (in a way they weren’t with previous exclusives)

It definitely seems this is the amazon exclusives with the most promo , the only one I feel that even had half as much was Sam Ryder but that felt like they were trying to capitalise on his eurovision performance

I was gonna say - Sam Ryder is probably the best example of another Amazon exclusive that was supported beyond the normal Amazon Alexa pushes!

Personally I'm not a big fan of the Kylie track - BUT I am really impressed that she looks like getting another #1 in 2025, yes you can argue that it's all Amazon fixing stuff but tbh I'm with gooddelta's earlier post that there's so much equivalent fixing that happens with christmas playlists that I'm happy to ignore the amazon element - and tbh I'm just glad that something is capable of breaking through the Wham domination that I'd otherwise assumed was likely to happen for years to come

14k (and counting) paid for sales in this day and age is incredible cheeseblock And even if you removed them she’d still be a strong contender. She so deserves this. And my bank account so deserves the £225 I’ll get if she wins kink

It makes a change from Spotify fixing stuff. If you don't get (high) on the Spotify playlists you wont have a hit.

Kylie is playing the game in the streaming era. She is using Spotify tactics on Amazon. Really pleased to see it.

I wish we were back in the days of only physical sales counting when we had 1 or 2 CD singles, a 7inch and a 12 inch and cassette...

We need to change Spotify so it is more local, or rotates songs, as it's totally unfair

It's the lesser of two evils seeing a good Amazon Christmas single there than Wham! every year until the end of time.

One knock-on effect is that it puts off any need for OCC to make any changes I guess. I think Wham! continued doing it every year they would feel the need to tweak, because they won't want the Christmas Number One to die.

But hasn't it already died? Since X Factor? It never recovered, except for the RATM year

I do actually agree with this - I don't mind Spotify in general but I'm not a fan of the way it is painting almost a fake picture in chart facts in terms of what the most popular songs from years gone by are in the UK. I get that songs can be popular that weren't hits here at the time but it does sometimes feel like the US bias in playlists strays in to territory of rewriting UK history...

...admittedly it only happens if you actually pay attention to what it does to the best "sellers" lists of all time etc, which of course most people here really don't pay attention to, but for fans of the charts from the 80s and 90s etc it does just feel a bit off

Yup already know this!

But will they play ALL 40 songs to accommodate for this runtime?

I know they would never do this because money but it would be interesting if streaming services did not put together playlists for the holiday, then we would be able to see which songs people are actually seeking out and putting on their playlists. Would expect big climbs for Wizzard/Slade and Pogues ahead of Brenda/Bobby for sure

I suppose we can be grateful that any of the UK classics are on Christmas Hits at all, as it is largely the main US playlist. Some effort has been made to include a few of our local hits, I just wish they were higher up so it was a better balance. If we can have all the 50s crooners having hits here due to this playlist then the US can have Shaky, The Pogues, Leona, Wizzard and Slade imo, push them up 30 places each next year please (although the latter isn't even on there at all).

Other countries like Germany and Sweden have their own local big focus Christmas playlists containing their own local classics high up, but for some reason here we just accept the mixed but largely American focused one as canon.

I guess this is supposed to be the main UK targeted one looking at the positions of certain songs, but I doubt half as many people here use it as Christmas Hits. Would be nice if it got a bigger homepage push in the UK or something, with its name changed to Christmas Hits UK.

It still annoys me that they have replaced Kylie's Santa Baby with Eartha Kitt's original version on the playlists.

It was never a hit in the UK whereas Kylie's was and could be doing much better annually at Christmas...
