Do we know the actually reasons for the decreases yet or is it just changing demographics and maybe less people on Spotify compared to other services?

I'm not sure tbf other than wham (who had vinyls last year for the anniversary) everyone's numbers aren't too far away , I'm thinking streaming is more spread out across the platforms this year

Assume that’s just change of playlisting?

Yeah Spotify have been pushing Holly Jolly Christmas a lot this year, it’s been as high as #1 on Christmas hits.

Last couple of years they’ve stopped pushing Bublé’s version of It’s Beginning… and instead given better playlisting to Perry Como

Wish they’d support Bubles version of Santa Claus is Coming to Town or Christmas Baby Please Come Home as they are the best songs on the album or even something slow like Silent Night.

I have a better idea: shun anything Buble dirge related and put The Waitresses higher to give them a much deserved top 40 place at last.

A completely different subject but I would def welcome that 😅.

As long as he take that Mariah thing with him I'll take it 🙌🤣 the waitresses is an underrated classic

And replace him with Leona!!!

I think Leona's fine, she probably still earns a substantial amount of revenue from it every year and it's at least still part of the canon 12 years later!

Christmas playlist now MC at number one again and LC at three two days before Christmas

MC will reach the number one spot on Spotify Global again

Mariah back ahead of Brenda. Pogues getting hit hard today and big jump for Dean Martin following move up to #2 on Christmas Hits.

Wham! only down 8.5% year on year

Chris Rea has sadly passed away, should see a boost for Driving Home for Christmas

What’s that 4 legends of Christmas music in 10 years during December?

George Michael 2017

Shane McGowan 2023

Greg Lake 2016

Chris Rea 2025

I think the Xmas dangs have probably peaked now. After they were shoved so far down our throats with playlists, and EVERYWHERE l, never ending for months at a time every hear, I reckon people are getting sick and will listen less and less and for a shorter time period each year

Omg I didn't realise Greg Lake died!!! It didn't seem to affect his chart position last year though

He actually died in 2016 sorry!

I think a lot of the time it’s events and activities where people play them as well such as house parties etc, I was at a Santa Sunday this weekend and they were playing the songs in the background!

'Stateside + Zara Larson' new on Apple Music at #196 and the combined track re-enters #88 last Friday on OCC.

Given that both PinkPantheress and Zara are teasing a music video, good bet on this being the first new hit of the 2026, kinda similar to how the Ice Spice remix boosted 'Boy’s a Liar' in 2023.

I've been getting it on autoplay on Spotify often - hopefully it'll appear there in the new year!

Chris Rea up to #10 on Spotify

Wham! held on yesterday but it was very close. Suspect Mariah will overtake in tomorrows update

I expected for Chris Rea to climb quite a bit after his passing. I was right.
