I feel like Kate Butch isn’t getting nearly enough praise in this thread or online in general and I can’t help think that’s just because people are tired of UK winners or maybe because she doesn’t serve glamour? But she’s been fantastic this time around, aside from a lacklustre and overthought Snatch Game but now she’s hit her stride, she could’ve won the last 3 weeks. She was in her element this week and I loved the clever reveal on the runway and how the look was still just a little bit ugly because… yes, that’s her style of drag. bast*rd drag is under appreciated on Drag Race which is why I’m glad Bailey J Mills has no interest in doing it.

I’m kinda getting tired of Gawdland but I do sympathise with her having to a challenge like this in a second language. It feels like she’s just stuck on screaming in EVERY challenge and usually people right now would’ve had the critique of being one note but she’s not getting that and nobody seems to care but me 😂

Still obsessed with Fontana though and her being a desperate drama queen at every possible turn.

Fontana makes me scream, her being so pressed that Naomy offhand said she’s not arsed about being in the finale because she’s probably just happy to have this opportunity, I live for her bringing the drama. This season is elite TV and largely it’s because of her being a desperate diva drama queen!!

I do love Kate but I’m just so invested in Gawdland winning, but I am telling myself obviously it’s not Kate’s fault other UK queens have won both other seasons. She has been brilliant now she’s hit her stride, and she would be something different for the winner’s circle, I mean this as a compliment but she’s very much the drag you’d see out a local bar any given Saturday, on that Drag Race level. She knows 100% who she is, for better or worse, I think a lot of queens with an aesthetic or brand that is a little off kilter for Drag Race lose it in trying to assimilate to the challenges but she has learned to use it to her advantage instead. I think it’s her sense of humour too, it’s very bast*rd drag but it’s got that stupid bizarre edge that fits Drag Race well, but it’s also just the fact she knows her brand and is so so confident in it. There’s surprisingly few queens I think have that skill nailed down. I didn’t think she quite had it at the start of the season but the second half has shown she has. Snatch Game I think is just weirdly a weaknesses for her where she is too conceptual or overthinks it, which I suppose is a downside to having such a sense of branding to her drag.

In saying that Gawdland is something different too, I don’t care that she’s always loud, for me she just knows her personality and uses that “weakness” as a strength, she knows she is such a spark of charisma she can basically weather any challenge and tackles every challenge 100%. She could give up or whinge about challenges she feels she can’t do. It’s also insane she’s been doing drag for 3 years, and in her second language she’s a front runner on one of the biggest arms of the franchise. I will always be an advocate for Khia series queens slaying but she’s eaten up the competition even more than I expected.

They’ve both had kind of the same run but opposite (Kate starting slow and getting it together and Gawdland slowing down a bit after being in the top for the entire start) so I think it’s neck and neck which is exciting for a finale!! I love that it’s becoming more common in Drag Race where it’s not clear who will win, finales got to be so boring when it was obvious.

Mariah getting upset with Naomy for having conflicting feelings as well as blaming Gawdland for something she never even voiced prior to this was quite shitty. I don’t understand how she won that lip sync.

Obviously Butch wasn't gonna be going anywhere but lowkey feel like Naomy probably deserved slightly more than Fontana? After such a strong start Fontana just kinda plateaued a bit the rest of the competition whereas Naomy was really hitting her stride.

Fontana should have won the makeover EASY, I think she has done well to regain her momentum this week and last, particularly as she’s struggled in comedy both on her first season and this and did well in the standup. Ru seems to HATE her since pulled that stunt of being excited to stay in episode 3 lmfao.

If anything I’d swap Naomy and Mariah as finalists but that’s just how the challenges landed, I see why Naomy was bottom for this while Mariah did well. To go from 2nd out on a season nobody watched to fan fave semi finalist on a Ru season is crazy to be fair!! Either way it’s a fantastic top 4 and losing any of them would feel a bit sad at this point. I’m gutted the Gawdland never below safe tea was false, but she’s one of only two queens to compete twice in different countries and never land in the bottom 2, the other being Nehllenia. Icons only x

Praying Gawdland wins but I do think it will be Kate, she does greatly deserve it too tbf. It’s one of those seasons where I’ll feel a bit sad if either of the two don’t win but obviously they can’t both, I just want it so bad for Gawdland. I mean with all due respect she annihilates both Kate and Mariah in a lipsync nine times out of ten but we saw that didn’t matter when it came to Marina oop. I’ve grown to love Kate to the point she can just come straight back for UK All Stars and eat that too tbh.

How I would've judged this week:

WIN - Fontana

HIGH - Mariah

LOW - Kate

BTM2 - Gawdland

ELIM - Naomy

Yeah I’d have given to Fontana too but I’ve really wound up loving Mariah this series and I’m happy for an early season girl getting her flowers so far down the line.

I can’t actually see anyone other than Gawdland winning. I think they may well have given it to Kate any other year but the optics of a UK girl winning every single time is awful for the show and wouldn’t do much to tempting international talent on for future series either.

I agree with this sentiment. If Kate wins this season, it will basically show that the UK vs. the World seasons are only there for a UK girl to win.

Hmm true, and I think with how much this season was shaped by Naomy, Fontana and Gawdland, plus Serena going down really well with fans, I think they’re maybe going to want to make sure they can keep getting these breakout stars from lesser watched series and “reward” that. Plus this series has been better received if feels due to it being much fairer on them judging wise imo, so ending with one of them being crowned ties that up. In this past couple of years of Drag Race fatigue, these girls don’t get the appreciation they deserve so I have absolutely adored this series for giving that to them.

I think keeping Kate for a potential UK All Stars is smart, I don’t think producers really are going to not crown someone for that reason, but her and Cheryl would both have the upward trajectory could have won storyline going for them.
