House Of Pain - Jump Around / Top O' The Morning To Ya

Jump Around only got to number 32 in 1992. In common with the Heart song we had earlier, it was re-issued as part of a double A side single the following year, the other side being 'Top O' The Morning To Ya'. Its legacy lives on with regular plays at sporting events.

Nooo! Two of my songs have fallen at the (almost) last hurdle.

I knew Heart wouldn’t make it. Their greatest hits album is one of my favourite albums of all time. So much variety in there!

But I thought ‘Don’t Marry Her’ just had enough votes to make it.

And the other two were also songs I wanted to make it through, particularly ‘Why?’ - which was great both in its original ballad version (which I’m not sure was ever made publicly available but I found it on illegal download), and the re-recording made for the single.

Two of my remaining songs are wildcards which might have scraped through on points alone, but I’m a bit worried about the two Darren Hayes/Savage Garden tracks, particularly ‘Insatiable’.

The rest of my remaining songs should make it through.

And my wildcard has just randomly played on my Spotify before I click submit! 🤣

No losses there but sad to see Jump Around, Turn and Blame It On The Boogie miss out! Glad Don't Marry Her didn't progress, hate that song...

'Don't Marry Her' I remember from the radio when I was younger (minus the swear words that I discovered later). Lovely song.

'These Dreams' by Heart is such a lovely song!

Ahh I could easily have given Turn a few more points and now regretting not doing it. Probably my favourite Travis song.

Pleased that Don't Marry Her, Jump Around and Blame It On The Boogie haven't made it - all 'classics' but ones that I've never really got on board with.

All of my 1-6 points out, had a feeling that my 4 for 'Jump Around' wouldn't be enough. 'Turn' wasn't in my votes, but I had a wave of 1999 nostalgia when it came up in the #8s playlist.

I'm not so big on their harder 70s stuff but the holy trinity of Heart, Bad Animals and Brigade are three of my all-time favourite albums ❤️ not a single bad track amongst them!

There goes my six-pointer in 'Jump Around' by House of Pain apparently KSI made an version of this, oh help us. Thought 'Don't Marry Her' or 'Forget-Me-Nots' would have qualified as it can be quite brutal the songs that go out in the 1st Round Results.

It's the same points score as last year. 101 singles had a points total greater than 61 points. There were two on 62 points so I've allowed them both through rather than applying a tie-break. A real shame to see Jump Around just miss out, a hip hop classic and could've made it had I given it a few more points x The Pretender is also a great Foo Fighters song. Great to see the vast majority of my favourites make it through, wasn't certain my 30 would without my help!
