  • One of the biggest shocks ever. Football bloody hell. Well done Macclesfield, 117 places below Crystal Palace in the football pyramid.

  • BBC will be happy with that result.

  • Perhaps the most pleasing aspect of this 'greatest FA Cup shock ever' is that it should be registered by a club which grew out of the ashes of such a famous name in lower league/non-league football.

Wow what a shock! No retention of the cup for Crystal Palace although they were very unlikely to win it again anyway.

Is this the biggest difference in divisions between two teams in the FA Cup where the minnow won? Unless there was a bigger one at some point in the qualifiers or 1st/2nd rounds can’t imagine there’s many other cases.

Yes, it is the biggest gap - 117 places. Therefore, in purely numerical terms, it is the biggest upset ever.

Bizarrely, it is 117 years since the holders last lost to a non-league team. The winners on that occasion? A team from Croydon .

Love these kind of freak coincidences!

I didn't think we'd see a bigger shock than Lincoln beating Burnley but I'd say this tops it wow. Wonder what the odds were pre-match!

Crystal Palace chose to allow Macclesfield to keep all the gate receipts from their match, foregoing the share they were entitled to. Man City were asked by cash-strapped Exeter if they could have more than their designated share. Mega-rich City refused.
