In common with the Bloc Party single, this was the fourth and final top 10 hit for the group from Northern Ireland. It has the same number of points and votes as 'Golden Years' and so wins the tie-break with one 24 point score.

Thank the lord Sweet Caroline is out, I hate it with all my soul. Already bracing myself for blocking out those heinous 'BA BA BA' shouts this summer x

  • 'The Windmills of Your Mind' is the first of my votes to drop out! Wonderful psychedelic imagery, piano and strings. The vocal performance is charming too.

41. Jessie J - Who You Are 171pts

This was the sixth single to be taken from Jessie J's debut album 'Who You Are'. All of them reached the top 20.

'Shining Light' is quite the banger, I remember it was considered a bit of a return to form at the time, it certainly returned them to the top 10 after a less successful era.

'Who You Are' is pretty good I guess if a little screechy at times.

Not fussed about the other three dropouts today, I don't get the love for 'Flux' one bit.

Nooooo what is Flux doing out already? From skimming through everyone's scores I thought it had done better than that.

Romeo and Juliet is also a great song (which I first got into via a cover by The Killers if anyone remembers their offcuts album?), would also have liked to see that in the final.

3 back to back losses there from Bloc Party, Bowie and Dire Straits, all solid tracks but not the best I've heard from their catalogues. The latter hopefully making it through to the finals with another (superior) song!

Ok as much as I don't like 'Flux' even I will say it's offensive that it's finished below 'Who You Are'. One of the most genuinely unlistenable songs to become a hit.

My first two songs out. Shining Light is a a great indie anthem and you can’t really go wrong with Bowie, thought not one of his best

Love them both!

From 1997, this was the Swedish singer's third top 40 hit. She still has one song ready to go in the second semi-final.

Going way back to 1969 now, we have the first top 40 hit for the group from California. They followed this up with the number 1 single, 'Bad Moon Rising'. Tina Turner's solo version of the song also continues to have high streaming figures.

Killer had been a number 1 for Adamski in 1990 with Seal on vocals. Just a year later, Seal recorded a new version with Trevor Horn producing. The other tracks on the EP were 'Hey Joe' and 'Come See What Love Has Done'.

36. Taylor Swift featuring Bon Iver - Exile 189pts

Taken from Taylor Swift's eighth album 'Folklore', Exile entered the singles chart in 2020 in the same week as 'Cardigan' (number 6) and 'The 1' (number 10).

No losses there for me. The CCR version of Proud Mary feels so limp compared to Tina Turner's! May have felt differently if the original was the first version of the song I heard. Much prefer the version of Killer produced by Adamski!
