LiSA is exactly the kind of inspired pick I love seeing in these kinds of competitions!

Herbs did a great job with The Chicks actually, Top of the World was ranked near the top (heh) for me in that last round, and the other song choices definitely got me curious to hear more from them

Ace of Base got a few points from me too there - i think hearing The Mountain Goats' cover versions of The Sign kinda helped solidify that as an iconic song for me

Another artist that seems to have perplexed people with the identity of their mentor, our Pavi was in fact behind Fred again.., and despite The Pop Detection Unit letting an artist of this nature through the cracks, Pav did a great job (I feel) of actually presenting Fred again.. as faithfully to the competition as possible, even relying on the likes of Romy for more than one song (!) to inject those female vocals into BuzzJack's veins. I think a job well done for you Pav all things considered. The same can be said for our other two artists here, FKA twigs and Erasure. Of course it was dandy* behind Erasure, and now confirmed to be the elusive holder of The Rebecca Ferguson Lobster of Resurrection. I did have dandy*'s express permission to make fun of him if he didn't use the lobster in time and was instead eliminated, but alas it was used and Erasure made it all the way to the battles where one of the most iconic songs of all time was pitted against... another of the most iconic songs of all time and sadly lost out. I'll be totally honest and say nobody has any idea how badly my eyes rolled to the back of my head when I saw FKA twigs had been chosen this season, but in the end !!! surprised us with some great tracks (even if for FKA twigs fans there were some curveball choices in there too). All three of you added something unique and brilliant to the competition this season, so thank you heart

And finally, Ansel... I fear you gave up towards the end given the barrage of abuse The 1975 were subject to throughout the competition, and honestly it was sad to see.

Tbf, not submitting a song for the wildcard round was just because I didn't see the thread, I didn't mean to look like I was ragequitting 😄 although I might've sent something a bit more competitive in the first place for round 4 if some people hadn't made their dislike for The 1975 pretty obvious xx was still a lot of fun to take part and I've got some more inspired picks for next year already!

(and to answer your question Nelly Furtado was the artist I wrote a chapter of my disseration on - there were actually a few others I looked at but basically I studied English and Spanish at uni, and decided to write about identity and cultural representation in Spanish-language music by primarily English-language pop artists!)

Interestingly I thought Pavi was FKA Twigs but !!! also makes sense, love a bit of twigs and glad you got to send Two Weeks one of my fave songs of that year wub

Obsessed with this - I want to read it!

'Two Weeks' was one of my five votes in the Paije round, stunning choice ❤️ as was 'Eusexua'... she really went out on a high.

Was bopping along to all your choices every round so f*** the haters sarah you did fab heart x

Also apologies for the slow pace everybody, but just two lots of three left to reveal and then the final 15 will be able to start confirming their song choices for the first Live Show bratcheeseblock

I suspected dandy* was Erasure, I really enjoyed discovering some of their work this contest and the current one here actually got a vote from me despite not knowing it before, Was such an unlucky draw to leave from.

Really enjoyed the fred again... and FKA picks this contest too, FKA another one getting a really unlucky draw.

Huge misstep.

Just catching up some now and some surprises with the three artists went through.

Happy for Lily but sad for Ace of Base, Blondie, George, Toni and Kesha.

Well done on everyone for making it this far!

also thanks to @Calum for the notifications over the last two rounds. I was completely exhausted over the past 2 weeks that I felt lazy to give a 70+-page thread a check x

King Rollo took Pet Shop Boys all the way to the final in Season 1 of The Pop Factor, and at the beginning of the competition here it looked like he was onto another winner with retro artist Nik Kershaw, coming in strong in third place with The Riddle against all the other solo male artists. Unfortunately as the competition went on it looked like support was dwindling slightly, but King Rollo went out on a high with some classic bops and in both seasons now has brought something truly unique to the competition. Jade was the mastermind behind Blondie, and it feels rotten that an artist with a track record as successful as Blondie's they're no longer in the competition, coming first in two rounds and never really leaving the top half of the leaderboard. Jade did an amazing job with them, and matches her best where Addison Rae exited the competition in Season 1. It was quite satisfying seeing so many songs that were just people's names coming in, can't lie. And then finally, onto little old me. kink I thought it would be fairly obvious I was one of the twinks in the competition (spoiler alert: I was actually going to enter ABBA this season, but when somebody registered them I just couldn't bring myself to say no to them), but then Shawn was entered and I knew I had some good cover. Ruel joins the elite club of artists that have released new music since the competition started too, and it's a crying shame Don't Say That couldn't have slayed the competition for him given it seems to be going down well with BuzzJack. Well done and thank you to Rollo and Jade though heart

STREAM DON'T SAY THAT BY RUEL NOW FOR 10 YEARS' GOOD LUCK

I did think Blondie might be a curveball pick from Jade actually! (and that definitely confirms the identity of ROSALIA kink), that's real rotten luck going up first against Nelly Furtado's biggest song and then against all those others hits, again, really enjoyed discovering their lesser known work.

Aww, a shame that Blondie didn't quite do enough as I still had so much more to present - some of my favourite hits like: 'Heart of Glass', 'Atomic', 'Dreaming' and 'Picture This', plus I probably would've gone with 'In The Flesh' for ballads and 'Rip Her to Shreds' for flops.

I thought 'One Way Or Another' would be competitive enough for battles, as it's one of those album tracks that has far transcended that status much like 'Here Comes the Sun' for The Beatles (it's literally Blondie's top track on Spotify right now) but 'Maneater' was a very unfortunate opponent. I knew I was doomed when even people with more alt-leaning tastes said it was a coin toss for them. I think 'Heart of Glass' might have been the only song of theirs that would've put up a real fight against it, but who knows, was probably too tall an order to knock it out with anything.

I then thought the poptastic, classic Diana Vickers anthem 'Call Me' would be enough for them to claw their way back into the competition but I judged that wrong as well 😢 I have quite an annoying trajectory in this so far as Addison Rae dropped out at this exact stage as well, as Calum pointed out - I think 'Diet Pepsi' just missed out drama

Still proud of Blondie's earlier performances, especially the 1st places for 'Maria' and 'Hanging On the Telephone', in what was viewed as a competitive category.

Btw I saw quite a few people guessing me for ROSALÍA. I am a big fan but never would've picked her because I wanted to try a different category this time, after sending Addison in the female category during the inaugural edition. Blondie were my first choice!

Sad to be out but at least I can sit back and relax now after two highly stressful rounds lol

although... call me if the Tesco Mary clubcard of double redemption is found down the back of the sofa x

‘Twas fun while it lasted! Rooting for Rosalia now!

I was indeed trying to send songs that I loved the most but chasing qualification turned out to be fun so I attempted to do both.

There was no way that I stayed beyond the duels so sending Don’t Judge Me seemed like the correct decision, especially if I got paired with Twigs. Also I didn’t want to send Romy twice in a row.

I can confirm I was cheating by sending female vocalists and that’s precisely how I finished top 3 in every single round!!!!

The never ending Ms Marple predictions about who everyone sent was the only annoying thing about all of this :’) I genuinely don’t understand what’s the point in spoiling fun for yourself. It’s giving Rupauls drag race forum xx

Maybe do surprise double eliminations next time to keep those insatiable hoes on their toes @Calum

Blondie was a great pick, I really thought you were ROSALÍA Jade but now it's very obvious who is.

Shame we didn't get to see some of those songs you mentioned (and Rapture too, what a catalogue). Indeed, not many artists would have got past Maneater, probably only Kelly Clarkson and maybe ABBA, it was a tough draw.

Calum you did amazing with Ruel, I thought you couldda been him or Conan and you did amazing with him, both his albums are fab and people should check them out if they havent wub

Ooo Jade behind Blondie is a bit of a shock!
