So these are the 25 singles to qualify for the final, in chronological order: You Keep Me Hangin' On Stuck In The Middle With You Hotel California Sultans Of Swing We Are Family Fade To Grey Wanna Be

Nothing Lasts Forever is magnificent and by far my favourite in this SF.

"Time's running out the door you're running in" is a particularly memorable lyric.

Some of the tracks I thought were sure to make the finals have dropped out so early! Blue Boy and Bunnymen especially, shame they both couldn't progress.

Sampling part of Kate Bush's 'Cloudbusting', Something Good got to number 4 in 1992. This 2008 remix came from Australians 'Van She Tech' with Kate Bush's vocal replaced by one from Davina Perera.

Writers - Anne Dudley, Gary Langan, J. J. Jeczalik, Paul Morley, Trevor Horn

Top points - King Rollo 25, Jaz13music 23, Julian 22

With it's title inspired by the 1972 Yes song 'Close To The Edge', this single samples two further Yes tracks, 'Leave It' and 'Owner Of A Lonely Heart', from the 90125 album that three members of The Art Of Noise had contributed to. The "hey!" part went on to be sampled in other songs, most notably 'Firestarter' by The Prodigy. Close (To The Edit) wins a tie-break over Something Good '08 by 13 votes to 11.

This was in my shortlist until I played it and remembered it was not as good as the original release which peaked higher.

My dad was at the time a fan of Savage Garden so the release of 'Insatiable' was a big event - very good track.

Close (To The Edit) is good too, a precursor to house music a few years later.

I also much prefer the original with the rave synths. The video of the 2008 version though was ahead of its time about a viral dance craze.

That's a big loss from Bob Marley - not too surprised as it had so few voters in round 1. His best song for me.

His second for me after Redemption Song probably - ooh just thinking of a potential Bob Marley (and the Wailers) rate!

No Woman No Cry not making it is a surprise! Violet Hill is one of Coldplay's best. The original Something Good is way better than the 08 remix.

'No Woman No Cry' is good but a sad song too.

Thought a Bob Marley remix ('Is this Love' ft Lvndscape and Bolier) made the top 10 in 2016 but actually it only got to #16.

My favorites song from him is Bloodstained Heart

I knew 'Insatiable' was coming sooner rather than later sad

I've got such a massive soft spot for that song, it's literally the perfect ballad. Though it also helps that it reminds me of a relationship I was in at the time as that was "our song" lol.
