Each week (aiming for Sunday evenings) I'll post one of these polls and ask you all to select your favourites from the week's new entries in the UK Singles Chart top 100. Unlike the similar polls in the genre forums, this poll is multiple choice - I'll leave it to your discretion how you want to give votes, if you want to just vote for your favourite each week then go for it, if not you can vote for as many songs as you feel deserve a vote (I will encourage people to make sure they've actually listened to all of the songs before voting but I can't enforce that obviously x). There's also a 'none of the above' option if you want to put in a protest vote. And then feel free to post in the thread any rankings/ratings or general thoughts. The song with the most votes at the end of the week will be the winner.

Sorry the thread is a bit late this week, we all knew this would happen at some point kink trucking on anyhoo. Week 6 delivered both the winner with the fewest votes of the year so far and the closest margin between the top 2, though still a somewhat clear victory for the comeback single from American stomp-clap-heyer Noah Kahan, 'The Great Divide' the lead single from his forthcoming fourth studio album (and first since his major breakthrough) of the same name. It got 21 votes, 6 clear of the legend and perhaps influence on his music Bruce Springsteen with his ICE protest single, which just edged out the belatedly charting 'Takedown' to be the runner up. Another song was saved from the ignominy of 0 votes by just one person, this time Don Toliver and Rema (Don's two solo cuts doing a little better).

Full week 6 results:

1 21/44 Noah Kahan - The Great Divide (#10)

2 15/44 Bruce Springsteen - Streets Of Minneapolis (#92)

3 14/44 HUNTR/X - Takedown (#70)

4 8/44 Dominic Fike - White Keys (#91)

5 7/44 December 10 - Run My Way (#72)

6 3/44 Don Toliver - Body (#45)

6 3/44 Don Toliver - E85 (#55)

6 3/44 Marnz Malone - Chy Cartier's Adlibs (feat. Tunde) (#96)

9 1/44 Don Toliver - Secondhand (feat. Rema) (#51)

[1/44 none of the above]

This week's contenders:

sombr - Homewrecker (#14)

Myles Smith and Niall Horan - Drive Safe (#27)

Calvin Harris and Kasabian - Release The Pressure (#37)

J. Cole - Two Six (#45)

J. Cole - SAFETY (#51)

J. Cole, Future and Tems - Bunce Road Blues (#59)

EsDeeKid - Omens (#75)

ZAYN - Die For Me (#91)

EsDeeKid, fakemink and Rico Ace - LV Sandals (#99)

Another full slate of newies from an album bomb (and it's another rap album!), as well as one newie and one oldie from EsDeeKid. Interestingly enough all of the non-rap new entries of the week are the 4 winners of the genre forum track of the week polls so a bit of a battle of the genres going on here x

Hall of Fame:

Week 1: Zara Larsson - Midnight Sun [29/49]

Week 2: Fleetwood Mac - Landslide [27/48]

Week 3: Bruno Mars - I Just Might [26/44]

Week 4: Jeff Buckley - Lover, You Should've Come Over [23/43]

Week 5: Harry Styles - Aperture [30/46]

Week 6: Noah Kahan - The Great Divide [21/44]

  • Gary the Penguin!

  • Sombr, Myles x Niall and Zayn. Pretty sure Sombr will storm it this week!

Gone with sombr, Safety and the 2 EsDeeKid tracks

Sombr ~ Homewrecker - the song is decent but his vocals are... annoying on this one?

Myles Smith and Niall Horan ~ Drive Safe - if you asked AI to produce the BLANDEST song of all time, this is about right

Calvin Harris and Kasabian - Release The Pressure - a collab that looks crazy on paper but it somehow works, decent beat!

J. Cole ~ Two Six - this is fire, one of the best I've ever heard from him

J. Cole ~ Safety - nice vibe and flow but a little too on the unnecessarily long side

J. Cole ~ Bunce Road Blues (feat. Future and Tems) - this one's just boring and rather muddled

Esdeekid ~ Omens - another strong one from him but a bit of a surprise flop considering how high his stock currently is

Zayn ~ Die for Me - nothing interesting going on here

Esdeekid, Fakemink and Rico Ace ~ LV Sandals - dumb as hell song and that repetitive 'ok' is soul destroying

Voted Calvin/Kas, J. Cole & SDKid

voting the highest 3 and zayn

Just voting for sombr this week. I've found all his songs pretty good (although I could happily go a while without hearing '12 to 12' by now but alas), and this one sounds like it has potential.
