Radio 1 Playlist (13/03/26): I'm dreaming of Orange County American girls like Elizabeth Taylor

Featured Replies

Brilliant to see Berghain on the playlist at last, Radio 1 just need to be a bit braver in their choices more often.

Gorillaz is also great news, a surprise return after all this time but I suppose making the best album of the year helps!

I really hope horsegiirL’s only the best is added soon. She’s playing Big Weekend and the song is so good!

Well it took another month but would you look at that (coincidentally on the same week that another Robyn song is being A-Listed)! Very happy to see 'Orange County' finally playlisted (not sure why now of all times but I'm not going to complain), it's my favourite song from them since the Song Machine era I think.

And 'Berghain' finally playlisted as well, what a pairing wub ofc Radio 1 have supported ROSALÍA plenty over the last few years but after they strategically bided time to playlist 'La Perla' instead when the album came out I assumed they just thought 'Berghain' was a bit too out there for the daytime playlist so hooray that they're finally giving it a chance now. I have heard Greg playing it a couple of times on the breakfast show anyway!

I thought of your post when I saw Berghain on there yday morning!

Harry Styles in Radio 1’s Live Lounge is Tune of the Weekend.

Berghain was never playlisted?! She seems like Radio 1 catnip but I guess they are kinda xenophobic a lot of the time so maybe not x

Who’d have ever thought when it came out in June that Midnight Sun, a song by fading out Zara Larsson, would be the longest runner on Radio 1? Iconic behaviour.

as above, La Perla got pushed to radio instead, seemingly they're only pushing Berghain now because of the Brits perf

They initially playlisted 'tracks from LUX' for 2 weeks so I guess 'Berghain' probably got some daytime plays then but yes, that was swapped out for 'La Perla' instead at the time.

Wish it was Damascus though, whistling in songs is rarely good.

Looking forward to hearing Berghain on daytime radio!

Guessing last time was Doncamatic way back in autumn 2010?

Yep! They've very much been confined to Zane Lowe/Annie Mac/Clara Amfo/Jack Saunders shows in the interim

Hopefully there are more sensible decisions to follow. They say age doesn't come into it but it blatantly does. Suppose it's a balancing act with supporting new artists admittedly. Gorillaz still feel really big though!

Still don't understand why Linkin Park got snubbed in 2024, that was one of the biggest rock songs for years!

Momentary Bliss, Ascension, Cracker Island, Tranz, New Gold etc would have been absolutely fine on daytime. Of course an act with so many recent Hottest Records should be on the playlist!

This is great, gives me Go by Delilah 2011 vibes.

I know it's the other side but can I celebrate the fact I interviewed OJ Borg? Feel free to move it to a more suitable place although I do talk about the fact the R1 - R2 gap has kind of closed.

Cool, is this your job? Seems a nice guy OJ!

Just a hobby but I'd like to do more!

I’ve heard Fatboy Slim & Rolling Stones ‘Satisfaction Skank’ played a couple of times over the weekend.

Wonder with Fatboy Slim headlining Friday night at the Big Weekend if this could get on the playlist soon?

I firmly predict this will happen in the run-up to the festival. And it's not like he's put anything else out they can play recently!

Shame Norman Cook pretty much lost all appetite to do much new music, he's an absolute icon from political indie with the Housemartins 40 years ago to stadium-filling house! Think he massively prefers just performing now by the sounds of it.

What an absolute BANGER!

Once again a great retro playlist, love the variety! I don't remember an Amy Winehouse song called 'In My Bed' at all though :/

Amy's debut album didn't quite have that commercial reach Back to Black did (though the scale of her second album was ridiculously huge when comparing the two).

Great retro playlist! Jamie Cullum's cover of Frontin' is great, one they were still spinning on Chillout Anthems until the show was dropped last year!
