Some really good selections here.

ABBA, Lily Allen, David Bowie, HAIM and Delta Goodrem sending some great songs.

Atomic Kitten, The Corrs and Kelly Clarkson are others I’m familiar with. Looking forward to giving the playlist a listen.

Just finished my first listen through and it’s a little two tiered for me.

A clear top 10 and then a clear bottom 5. The respective placements will be hard to decide though.

Also some really nice discoveries and re-discoveries.

AshesToAshes3.jpg

01 David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes

02 ROSALÍA - PIENSO EN TU MIRÁ - Cap.3: Celos

03 HAIM - If I Could Change Your Mind

04 Kelly Clarkson - Never Again

05 Troye Sivan - Bloom

06 Lily Allen - Madeline

07 ABBA - Super Trouper

08 Nelly Furtado - Big Hoops (Bigger the Better)

09 Delta Goodrem - Believe Again

10 Chappell Roan - Red Wine Supernova

11 Atomic Kitten - Be With You

12 Scissor Sisters - She’s My Man

13 Florence + the Machine - Hurricane Drunk

14 Conan Gray - Maniac

15 The Corrs - Irresistible

'Ashes to Ashes'... what an iconic song and music video. Need the fans of Bowie and Samantha Mumba's 'Body II Body' to come together here tongue

I remember 'MALAMENTE' getting off to a slow start in round 1, but that managed to turn things around, so hopefully 'PIENSO EN TU MIRÁ' will find its audience too. It'll always be special to me as the song that properly turned me into a ROSALÍA stan back in the day!

'If I Could Change Your Mind' is my favourite HAIM pick to date, what a delight.

'Never Again' in all its scorned glory deserved better commercially! Really enjoyed revisiting it in this round.

My votes are in!

1 ABBA - Super Trouper (another classic from the act I wanted to send, grrr)

2 Conan Gray - Maniac (great pop song, first song I ever heard of his and still love it)

3 Scissor Sisters - She’s My Man (a highlight of their discography)

4 Lily Allen - Madeline (one of the best on the album for sure, but too recent to go against that classic top 3)

5 HAIM - If I Could Change Your Mind

6 The Corrs - Irresistible

7 David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes

8 Atomic Kitten - Be With You

9 Chappell Roan - Red Wine Supernova

10 Nelly Furtado - Big Hoops (Bigger the Better)

11 Delta Goodrem - Believe Again (this is a great song but I only discovered it relatively recently so it hasn't really had time to cement itself in my affections yet, compared to the songs above which I've known for much longer)

12 Troye Sivan - Bloom

13 Kelly Clarkson - Never Again (not one of my favourite Kelly singles, oops)

14 ROSALÍA - PIENSO EN TU MIRÁ - Cap.3: Celos (I liked this more than the last few offerings so at least it's not bottom place)

15 Florence + the Machine - Hurricane Drunk (apologies to whoever sent Florence, she's only got a handful of songs I really like and this isn't one of them)

  1. Delta Goodrem - Believe Again (a couple of years ago my partner gave me a keyring with the 'I believe the impossible, is possible to overcome' refrain and a barcode link thing to the song on Spotify, it's very special to me. I still remember the first time I heard the song, it sounded like an uplifting, epic piece from a film score, I've never forgotten that feeling – it's a song that always gives me such great hope that things will be ok)

  2. The Corrs - Irresistible (likewise, another fine track from the In Blue album that brings back good memories of my school days)

  3. Atomic Kitten - Be With You (one of Atomic Kitten's best uptempos, with a very inspired sample use)

  4. Lily Allen - Madeline (another highlight from West End Girl)

  5. ROSALÍA - PIENSO EN TU MIRÁ - Cap.3: Celos (props to this for cracking my top five as I hadn't heard it before, one of my favourites I've heard from ROSALÍA)

  6. ABBA - Super Trouper (not my favourite from ABBA but it's a classic that I can't bring myself to rate any lower)

  7. David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes (also legendary, obviously)

  8. Chappell Roan - Red Wine Supernova (one of the best songs on the album, I've lost track of what was and wasn't a single at this point as the album's tracks spanned so many years)

  9. Florence + the Machine - Hurricane Drunk (probably not one of my Lungs favourites but does bring back some very nice memories of the time, when I spammed that album)

  10. Kelly Clarkson - Never Again (was actually quite nice to hear this again with fresh ears, I never really listen to it usually – it was a bold move for Kelly just not one I really loved, the parent album though is SO underrated)

  11. Nelly Furtado - Big Hoops (Bigger the Better) (I will forever admire how Nelly became a 'pop girl' superstar for one era only and then went back to doing her own thing immediately after – not a fave at all, but always found it quite fun)

  12. HAIM - If I Could Change Your Mind (another nice track from HAIM, sorry to have it so low)

  13. Troye Sivan - Bloom (thought I'd forgotten about this but it came back when I listened to it, pretty good track)

  14. Conan Gray - Maniac (good too although wasn't a Conan fave for me, but regardless he deserved to make it to the lives and I'd be very happy to see him go further as I've made so many brilliant discoveries from him)

  15. Scissor Sisters - She’s My Man (never really been hugely into this unfortunately)

  1. Lily Allen

  2. Kelly Clarkson

  3. Nelly Furtado

  4. Atomic Kitten

  5. Florence & The Machine - this is a very high score for me for this group!

  6. The Corrs

  7. David Bowie

  8. Troye Sivan

  9. Chappell Roan

  10. Haim

  11. Delta Goodrem

  12. Conan Gray

  13. Scissor Sisters - This was higher but it went on and on and on......

  14. Rosalia

  15. ABBA

Overall a weak round for me as a whole collection of songs.

01 = Troye Sivan – Bloom (fave)

02 = Conan Gray - Maniac

03 = Atomic Kitten - Be With You

04 = The Corrs - Irresistible

05 = Kelly Clarkson - Never Again

06 = Lily Allen - Madeline

07 = HAIM - If I Could Change Your Mind

08 = David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes

09 = Delta Goodrem - Believe Again

10 = Chappell Roan - Red Wine Supernova

11 = ABBA - Super Trouper

12 = Florence + the Machine - Hurricane Drunk

13 = Scissor Sisters - She’s My Man

14 = Nelly Furtado - Big Hoops (Bigger the Better)

15 = ROSALÍA - PIENSO EN TU MIRÁ - Cap.3: Celos

No really big songs except "Ashes To Ashes" and "Madeline" - many are OK, but the last 4 really are not my cup . I never again want to listen to that song from Kelly - must have been her worst.

01 David Bowie - Ashes To Ashes

02 Lily Allen - Madeline

03 Chappell Roan - Red Wine Supernova

04 Haim - If I Could Change Your Mind

05 Atomic Kitten - Be With You

06 Abba - Super Trouper

07 Troye Sivan - Bloom

08 Rosalia - Pienso En Tu Mira

09 The Corrs - Irresistable

10 Delta Goodrem - Believe Again

11 Scissor Sisters - She's My Man

12 Nelly Furtado - Big Hoops

13 Florence + The Machine - Hurricane Drunk

14 Conan Gray - Maniac

15 Kelly Clarkson - Never Again

01 Chappell Roan - Red Wine Supernova one of the absolute highlights of the album, pop perfection etc - honestly should've been a multiweek #1 but hey ho! drama

02 Scissor Sisters - She’s My Man up there with my all-time Scissor Sisters songs. Never fails to bring me joy. heart

03 Troye Sivan - Bloom favourite discovery of the week alert! 🚨how have I never heard this before?? LOVE IT!

04 Kelly Clarkson - Never Again one of Kelly's strongest singles imo! Love this grittier side of Kelly and the middle-8 section onwards is just glorious. heart

05 Atomic Kitten - Be With You in my (very firm) top 3 Atomic Kitten songs. One of the few 00s pop group covers that got it right! I still play it a lot to this day. heart

06 HAIM - If I Could Change Your Mind second-favourite discovery of the week alert! 🚨 Consistent queens so far in this contest!

07 Lily Allen - Madeline one of the standouts of West End Girl, love the Western vibes and storytelling.

08 David Bowie - Ashes to Ashes this is a great pick from David. One of my favourites from him so far.

09 The Corrs - Irresistible another really good choice from The Corrs.

10 Florence + the Machine - Hurricane Drunk another solid entry from F+TM.

11 ROSALÍA - PIENSO EN TU MIRÁ - Cap.3: Celos not one of my faves I've heard from her but a nice discovery nonetheless.

12 ABBA - Super Trouper I like this but don't love it. That said, I think it's a strong choice from Team ABBA as I think it's generally well-regarded?

13 Conan Gray - Maniac not a big lover of this one sadly. Not bad though.

14 Delta Goodrem - Believe Again again, good song but don't have much appeal for me.

15 Nelly Furtado - Big Hoops (Bigger the Better) never been a fan of this. I can understand the rationale behind sending this though.

Maniac is essential Conan, so glad it's getting a moment to shine here wub (waiting for Vodka Cranberry to have the BuzzJack masses floored though smoke)

Another beautiful choice for Delta there, I don't think I was too familiar with that song before now (probably have heard it but been a long time since I've listened - much like a lot of her older stuff can't lie). Stunning heart HAIM continuing to win me over in this too, a great song, and of course a classic from ABBA, albeit not one of my absolute favourites. Pains me that it feels like I'm constantly rating Kelly low in the competition so far and I'm probably in the minority but I just don't get/like her early stuff as much as others do cry

He's not for everyone but he does have a few tunes (not necessarily this one though)
