My thoughts are v complicated after two listens

They're not sonically similar, but I think both this and Virgin by Lorde approach the concept of an album in a similar way, fleeting, album in construction, intentionally "unfinished", bare, refusing to take you where the song builds towards. She sounds miserable and has a lot to say, but doesn't have the energy to follow through? It's going to frustrate a lot of people and mileage will vary, but I find the lyrics interesting and vibe with it feeling like a mirror to how she's feeling post-brat

I'm sure I'll come around to everything soon, and I stan Charli for taking the swings most pop girls wouldn't dream of 🖤

the b-sides remain some of the strongest music of the era so get them on streaming pls x

I never wanted Brat 2.0 but I certainly didn't want what this is. I think its her worst album by far.

I managed to listen to this twice on my way to work this morning. Her mind with making the most of our valuable time!

Brief thoughts: no skips, lots of fun and interesting sounds and devastatingly personal lyrics. The singles work even better in album format, like one of the critics said: her most fully-realised statement yet.

I was tearing up and smiling at the same time when ‘No One Lasts Forever’ was fading out.

I don’t think this is for me personally! I just don’t really fully understand it and maybe it’s a me thing 😆

There’s interesting production moments on there and when you look at the lyrics there are some deep cut type moments on there but it’s just vocally for me it sounds really bad (like Charlis never been a Celine type act with vocals) but she’s never sounded this bad. I kind of feel it’s intentional to feel / sound this way and the contrast feels the opposite to BRAT which felt more over the top but yeah…. I might give it another listen to see if feelings change.
