His suggestion worked in this scenario (last week) - but doesn’t work in many others. It’s frustrating that the rules are so opaque that even Alan (whose work I’ve been following since the 80s) doesn’t fully understand it. There are several compilations in the chart that are not currently the best selling compilations for those artists (Michael Jackson and probably Fleetwood Mac and George Michael to name a few).

From what I recall, Diana Ross was delayed but eventually got a reset.

Wednesday at 16:103 days Not listened to her album yet but would be so willing for Melanie C to get that elusive solo #1 album! She’s always been my favourite Spice (though Posh gives her a run for her money these days ).

Wednesday at 16:483 days The album chart in the article is yesterday's top 40 - I'll update if it changes.
Wednesday at 16:563 days Shame this was probably Draculas last shot at number 1 for a while 😢(Unless Billie Jeans momentum has slowed)Ooh didnt expect Olivia D to be that close to Noah could go either way for 4th between them 2
Wednesday at 17:083 days Just now, Henessy Lake said:So Kneecap gonna get physical num 1 and MJ offical number 1Not necessarily i think mel is selling a lot better physically they are streaming a lot better
Wednesday at 17:113 days 13 minutes ago, 777666jason said:Shame this was probably Draculas last shot at number 1 for a while 😢It's still nowhere near #1 sales-wise so it hasn't ever really had a shot (without Rein Me In going to ACR).
Wednesday at 17:133 days 3 minutes ago, 777666jason said:Not necessarily i think mel is selling a lot better physically they are streaming a lot betterThe numbers were posted for Tuesday's update - both KNEECAP and Melanie are getting the large majority of their sales from physicals (with KNEECAP doing better), Melanie is doing slightly better on downloads and KNEECAP are doing slightly better on streams but pretty low numbers for both.
Wednesday at 17:153 days Shame to see MJ back in the Top 5 but hey dawg what can you do? Rein Me In still at #1 how are people not bored of it yet?
Wednesday at 17:163 days Compared with last week's Wednesday mids:The Art Of Loving up by ~1k, so would expect it to end the week at around 16k'FEVER DREAM' down by ~500'Dracula' up by ~500and...'Rein Me In' up by ~800
Wednesday at 17:263 days 7 minutes ago, Henessy Lake said:So Fever dream going on acr and Dracula avoiding then? They're both on only one week of decline before this week, so would need to decline next week too.
Wednesday at 17:283 days 2 hours ago, 777666jason said:Ah fair enough you could be right I was just going by Alan's write up in the sales thread"QuoteTopping the box office chart despite a critical drubbing, Michael Jackson biopic Michael has reignited massive interest in the late ‘king of pop’, who died nearly 17 years ago. The official soundtrack set, Michael: Songs From The Motion Picture leads the way, debuting at No.4 (13,244 sales). 2003 compilation Number Ones re-enters at No.5 (9,267 sales), while 1982’s Thriller surges 65-8 (7,251 sales), and 1987’s Bad rockets 52-13 (6,302 sales). The only Jackson album in the chart heading the wrong way is 2005 compilation The Essential, which spent six weeks at No.1 following his death in 2009, but which slides 5-14 (6,268 sales) this week. The cause of that blip is the complicated relationship between the track listings of Michael, Number Ones and The Essential, with pure sales order dictating where the streams from common tracks (both solo and Jacksons/Jackson 5 material) are directed for chart purposes. In this particular case, The Essential is the loser. For the record, with pure sales of 4,124, all of the soundtrack’s 13 tracks contributed to its streams. With 1,151 pure sales, Number Ones came next but was denied streaming points from the nine tracks the two albums share. With 388 pure sales, The Essential is the last of the three, and was not allocated streams from any tracks it shared with either of the other two"Rather have Dracula than Rein Me In at #1.
