I laughed and said "oh I think I've heard of her yes" 😂 I was a bit speechless, said first of all I'm deaf and rely on lipreading to communicate and she put the CD she was going to sign down and sa

Jesus Christ I hope not puke

Melanie is fighting tho. She announced new shows with album purchases and new variants.

Unfortunately I don’t think an extra few hundred sales (at a push) here and there is going to hold off the onslaught of Michaels streams

Really low streaming though for Mel C, kinda suprised only 200 streams when Kneecap are nearly at 1000

Tbf its why most albums do well week 1 and then plummet nowadays

I dont think she has ever been known to be huge on streaming either

Can "Dashboard" replace Porch Light for Noah Kahan?

Chemical Brothers 'Go' currently #64 in the mids wub would love this to belatedly become a top 40 hit so here's hoping the momentum continues.

Always thought this was a top 40 for them, just checked and only got to 46 in 2015 somehow, such a great track!

I think Kneecap are probably considered a more "current" act and have quite a lot of critical acclaim/a following.

Her large lesbian fanbase must be too busy to stream due to watching Corrie’s Swarla wedding videos on repeat kink

Yes, it's really looking that way unless Mel can shift another 6 or 7k rapidly which is highly unlikely. But a top 3 for Mel really is a brilliant result.

Should easily double her last album first week sales of 7,265 copies.

Eurosummer to stay top 100 please! In spite of her rising hype, the album still only has top 100 to its name and I'd love my second favourite from the album to be one that makes it.

I don't think the fight is over yet. She just sold out her cassette bundles and more variants from Townsend store.

Banquet records have only dispatched today, she easily sold more than 3k with these additions. Yes, MJ is unbeatable but she probably will surpass Kneecap.

The surprising thing about Northern Star is it started out at #10! It's fair to say it's one of those albums that recovered as the campaign went on - 'I Said Never Again' bumped it up to #5 later in its run and 'I Turn To You' gave it its #4 peak.

It wasnt that surprising back then, Charts worked differently, it wasnt all about the first week.

True. But ironically that was literally the era when songs debuted at number 1 then started their decline! Every single Melanie C song peaked in its debut position.

I know we are talking about albums though and it was a mixed bag: lots of the biggest albums did grow over time, whereas other albums peaked in their debut position.

As well as Melanie C: Christina Aguilera and Gabrielle also released albums that week that peaked much higher than they debuted (Gabrielle debuted at 25 and eventually reached to Number 1. And the Number 1 that week was one of the biggest selling albums of all time – by Shania Twain – that debuted at 15, then fell out of the chart completely (like Gabrielle) before eventually climbing to Number 1.

I guess the Singles Chart and Albums Chart have swapped over!

I think it'd probably be languishing in the lower part of the top 100 without her, there's no doubt Sabrina has done the heavy lifting here.

That will be great if it does and who knows what else they might pull out of the bag over the next 2 days, huge shame that streaming is letting her down so badly ( we knew it would be the case) but even if had improvements there it would help.

Mel C’s debut was not a success until Never Be The Same Again was released months later… that did really well and then she followed up with the banger that is I Turn To You, both turned a low selling album into major success. Also gave her credibility as a solo artist, during the summer of 2000 she was played on TV and radio loads…beforehand the media were not complimentary towards her when she started off with Goin’ Down.
