'Toop Toop' was a right earworm to kick off the tracklist! Wasn't quite what I was expecting from Cassius (I thought they were more of an electronic act) but still very much enjoyed.

Regina Spektor - On The Radio

Thanks for a great contest. Some great choices here and a couple of new discoveries for me

Hopefully 'On The Radio' did well for me - it brings back memories of bopping along to it on drives in and around Aberystwyth (during my final uni year!)

15pts Soul Avengers featuring Javine - Don’t Let The Morning Come

13pts Infernal - Ten Miles

12pts Nelly Furtado - Do It

11pts Basement Jaxx - Take Me Back To Your House

10pts Daughtry - Feels Like Tonight

9pts Sneaky Sound System - Pictures

8pts Delta Goodrem - Flawed

7pts Cardigans - Don’t Blame Your Daughter (Diamonds)

6pts All Saints - Fundamental

5pts Emma Bunton - Perfect Strangers

4pts Dannii Minogue - Love Fight

3pts The Hush Sound - Wine Red

2pts Islands - Rough Gem

1pt Moony - For Your Love

Commiserations

xx Snow Patrol - Hands Open

xx Saosin - You’re Not Alone

xx The Pipettes - Because It’s Not Love (But It’s Still A Feeling)

Moony is next with 72 points.

Great choice Herbs! Regina was on my shortlist but I wouldn't have been able to choose between On The Radio and Better. Fidelity already did well in BJSC a long time ago, and Samson also has over 100m streams.

Those four songs were basically the soundtrack to my spring term of second year of uni.

Thanks to all who have sent / are to send Regina some love

Really thrilled to see my 18 pointer do so well. Keisha ❤️

Anathallo is next with 75 points.

Moony was one of my ultimate faves (hopefully it will be back in Top 10) and it's nice to see we swapped 15's with Roba wub

Thank you Herbs as well for the 13! <3

Edited by Assy!

Moony wasn't who I confirmed initially. I had actually sent Embrace but wasn't feeling secure with that despite being a fine track. Funnily I did then go listen to 'Carnival Of Rust' in between landing on 'For Your Love'!

Glad it's doing reasonably well. About where I expect. Just noticed I left Evanescence off oops. Would've have made my 5 pointer I think but was rushing so didn't properly check again, nevermind.

Fun fact - I only heard of Regina Spektor's name but wasn't familiar with her songs knowing they were by her, only upon listening to On the Radio I was like oh THIS is her! I spent ages trying to figure out what a song was called off the beat when I heard it on an advert once and I realised that song was Fidelity! Both bangers!

Glad to see mine doing well so far!

I considered sending Fidelity but assumed it would get vetoed!

'Fidelity' was actually sent to the second ever BJSC and came 2nd there!

I wouldn't really have minded sticking to the standard voting system tbh but still nice to throw some points to a few extra songs anyway I suppose - also the one commiseration to The Cardigans who only just missed out. There were a good handful more that I thought were solid as well.

My own entry was a quick find from just looking up '2006' on /r/listentothis and listening to the last few submissions of songs from that year, this song sounded immediately very pretty and I thought it might stand out quite nicely. From my snooping on the SyncTube session it didn't really provoke much comment but the few comments it did get were positive. Hope it's found a few fans. Apparently one of the members of Anathallo was also a member of fun.!

The Panda Bear song was the obvious standout and a pretty easy 18 for me but there was a bit of jostling between the next few songs after my relisten, glad to give my silver to an artist I wasn't familiar with as a lot of my other high votes are artists that I would have expected (not that I'm complaining at them delivering - unfortunately the songs from Hot Chip and Regina Spektor didn't quite do it for me as I hoped but they were both also decent). Oh my at the Sufjan Stevens namedrop in that Snow Patrol song and double oh my at the Basement Jaxx song turning out to be a country hybrid - I wasn't quite sure what to make of that on first listen but it clicked with me enough to rise into my votes just about after my second run through.

The Pipettes are next with 84 points.
