  • There is renewed speculation that the World Cup could be expanded to 64 teams. I'm guessing that the plan is to continue expanding it until Italy manage to qualify.

Good to hear lots of boos at the totally unnecessary drinks breaks. Also good that the UK broadcasters are commenting on it.

Awful.

The fact that he also won CAF Champions League this year broke my heart even more.

Slaven Bilic has agreed to return as Croatia coach having managed the national team between 2006-2012.

It would have been really nice to see a first time winner of the World Cup. Only eight countries in the entire globe have won this competition and apart from the one time Spain & England won and Uruguay winning it in 1950 it's been the same merry-go-round of five teams over the last decades. You get some shock and unusual occurrences in club football from time to time but it just doesn't seem to happen on the World international stage. Having to wait another 4 years for the next opportunity makes it worse as well.

True, you get one off upsets at the World Cup but in terms of winning overall there's never been a true outsider.

The Euros is where it's at for that, in fact every 12 years we tend to get a surprise winner:

1992 - Denmark

2004 - Greece

2016 - Portugal

So the next Euros we should see an outsider take the spoils!

I think I said this earlier in the tournament it’d be nice to see a new winner like Norway, Colombia or the likes. But it wasn’t to be!

Dutch football referee Rob Dieperink has died weeks after he was dropped from officiating at the World Cup following a police investigation in the UK.

Dieperink had been selected to be a video assistant referee (VAR) official at this summer's tournament, but was removed from Fifa's list of World Cup officials in May.

The World Cup final will have a ‘half time show’ similar to the Super Bowl so instead of half time being the regular 15 minute break it will be 30 minutes.

Ffs this is just ridiculous!
