  • South Korea themselves are lucky that there's a possible route for them via 3rd place otherwise this would be one of the biggest group stage bottle jobs of all time.

  • Mexico and South Africa will repeat the opening fixture of the 2010 World Cup – exactly 16 years since their 1-1 draw in Johannesburg; it’s the first time an opening fixture has ever been repeated fro

These are my rough predictions for the final standings of group A:

Mexico and South Africa will repeat the opening fixture of the 2010 World Cup – exactly 16 years since their 1-1 draw in Johannesburg; it’s the first time an opening fixture has ever been repeated from the 19 previous single-match World Cup openers.

My predictions:

1st Mexico

2nd Czechia

3rd South Korea

4th South Africa

South Korea progress as one of the 8 best 3rd-placed teams.

Spain will hope that this will be a good omen for them and there is a very good chance that it will be!

The Azteca stadium in Mexico City is 2200m or 7000 off feet above sea level….

Welcome to the World Cup here on Buzzjack, I look forward to chatting about the tournament with you all throughout the five and a half weeks.

There’s a World Cup ball emoticon added to the reactions on my phone 🥰

Personalised national anthems with Tyla singing the South African anthem and the Mexican anthem being sung by who I presume is a Mexican singer. A nice touch, let's see if that will be a continuing thing.

No Ochoa on the starting line-up then - I thought they might give him the opening game given the notability that's been given around him being the only person apart from Messi and Ronaldo to be in six World Cups!

And I better get my group predictions in for this one sooner rather than later!

Mexico - 7

South Korea - 6

South Africa - 2

Czechia - 1

With presumably no third-placer going through depending on how I predict the other ones lol
