  • I think it depends on your expectations going into the tournament. Croatia in 1998 and Turkey in 2002 were very happy to get 3rd place and the bronze medal because they exceeded their own expectations

  • This is how England can play in a match that doesn't matter. If only they had pretended that the semi-final didn't matter.

  • Clearly Kane and Bellingham were holding us back!

Highest scoring game in WC history is actually Austria 7-5 Switzerland in 1954.

And Kane got a hat-trick in 2018 vs Panama.

Don't know where you're getting your stats from Crazy Chris lol

BBC commentator said it last night..so they're getting facts wrong them. Heard one on Sky News today say again that no country has ever won 2 consecutive. Emailed them, Brazil, 58, 62.

Other 3 more impressive as they did it in fewer games^

But football was different in the 50s, with 4-2-4 being the normal formation, was t ubtil the 60s when the anti football defensive formations started!0

Was a good game that lastnyt and quite normal for a 3rd place playoff to be a goal fest as the shackles are off and there’s less Preasure.

Although I enjoyed it it didn’t feel edge of your seat as there was no jeopardy compared to the proper knock out games so no where near the best game of the tournament for me. That’ll always be the Cape Verde Argentina one for me, my adrenaline was pumping after that, so much so I watched the 3am game Colombia as I couldn’t sleep 😂

Same for me. That was edge of the seat stuff. Wish they'd put the Argies out. Would have been biggest WC story ever..

I can clearly remember when Argentina won their first in 1978. Final was on a Sat then and I think only on ITV.

Are you sure it was on a Saturday? 😅

It was on the BBC as well.

The hat-trick fact referred only to the knock-out stage. Kane's hat-trick against Panama was in a group match.
