Official Charts Report

Hold the back page, hold the front page! Dai Dai from Shakira and Burna Boy could displace Rein Me In from the Number 1 spot, delaying its path to possibly become the longest-running Official UK Number 1 single of all time.

The 2026 World Cup anthem, which had been steadily climbing as the tournament progressed over the past few weeks, now finds itself in pole position and looking to top the chart for the very first time.

But Rein Me In won’t give up without a fight, that’s for sure. After equalling Frankie Laine’s I Believe for most weeks at the summit on Friday, Rein Me In takes aim at a 19th week at the top, which would see it become the outright champion.

With only 600 units between the two tracks during this latest update, it’s all to play for in one of the most intriguing chart battles of all time. Can Dai Dai deny Rein Me In, or can Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s hit track regain control and become the all-time Singles Chart conqueror? Tune in Friday, 31st July on BBC Radio 1 from 4pm for The Official Chart with Jack Saunders to find out whether Sam and Olivia can do it!

Elsewhere, Ella Langley’s Choosin’ Texas could continue its good fortunes, currently on track to achieve a new peak (3), while HUGEL’s Movin’ To The Sun may follow suit and make its maiden appearance among the Top 5 (5).

Pop sensations KATSEYE look to secure this week’s highest new entry with Animal (13), which in turn would become the six-piece's highest charting single to date.

Snap! Charli xcx’s Camera, the last single from her recent album Music, Fashion, Film, is on course to debut inside the main standings (18).

American country enthusiast Morgan Wallen begins his campaign for a fifth Top 40 accolade with Been By Now (27). Moreover, SIENNA SPIRO’s Material Lover (12) and Boston from Stella Lefty (14) both eye new peaks.

As his Wembley Stadium residency as part of his The Romantic tour comes to a close, with his final gig at the iconic venue taking place on Tuesday, Bruno Mars’ Die With A Smile featuring Lady Gaga looks to elevate (23) as does Bruno’s 2026 hit, I Just Might (39).

Finally, two dance tunes, MK’s Zone (38) and Josh Baker’s My Place (40), both of which feature singer-songwriter Poppy Baskcomb, look to enter the Top 40 for the first time.

Both have really gone for it with formats etc., but Team Shania have been pushing variants, special editions, signed copies etc for ages in the lead up to her Harry support.

recent opening week figures for this week's chart battle...

21,071 - Charli xcx - Wuthering Heights

17,976 - Shania Twain - Queen of Me

7,983 - The Strokes - The New Abnormal

(if we're not counting WH as a proper album - BRAT did 27,234)

could very well be tight between Charli & Shania

I think the Strokes were missing a crucial format for The New Abnormal's first week so I'd expect a bigger debut from them.

oh yes I forgot about that, although even putting the two release weeks together they're still some way off Shania (12,807) but also that was in 2020 when record sales were poorer for obvious reasons so not a true fair comparison

I do expect we'll have an all-new top 3 anyhow, surely they can muster up the 15k needed to outdo the MJ GH..

And The New Abnormal really gave them a huge boost of popularity - ‘The Adult Are Talking’ is their most streamed song on Spotify overall now!

However the new album hasn’t been received well by fans, so we’ll see…

I’d much much rather Shania get it over Charli but I have a feeling Charli might edge it?! BRAT was huge and I think she’ll get a lot of casual streamers this time around plus this is kind of the actual follow up to BRAT in terms to this being a studio album.

I was thinking Charli would be an easy #1!

She has the entire album top 200 on spotify only Noah, Harry and olivia Rodrigo have done that this year

Depends how big of a drop she has on streaming. It debuted well but is it going to stay there?

The poor performance around the world suggests not. It did 10 million first day on Spotify, that puts it below Madonna’s ‘Confessions II’ and Doja Cat’s ‘Vie’ and just slightly above Miley’s ‘Something Beautiful’. It did do disproportionately well in the UK but I’d be surprised if it holds up.

Why did it do disproportionately , she british it was always going to do best on her home turf

if Music Fashion Film gets #1 then Charli will be only the third British female soloist to get four UK number 1 albums ever (the other two being Adele and Ellie Goulding)
