Apart from Amen UK - Passion, chart Dance music was back to being more sensible and less poppy for a while. I think I prefer the less sensible eurodance era of 1993-5.

But One and One, Ecuador, Something Going On, Free all good.

Alone by Bee Gees good too and I think I remember it from the time. Rembrandts -I'll Be There For You was on radio loads too.

Unpopular opinion here but I really don’t like the dance music from around 1996-1999, it just didn’t have the same vibe that 1993-1995 and 2000-2004 dance music had.

Looks like we've both been working 1997 compilations today @nowmusic1993 haha. Mines in the custom tracklist thread.

'Freed from Desire' has been ruined by overplay so I prefer 'Let A Boy Cry'.

No Mercy - Where Do You Go is nostalgic. Jax Jones and MNEK did their version of it a few years ago too lol.

'Picture Of You' obviously Boyzone's best song too!

It’s strange how the Spice Girls were placed on the albums in 1998. In my opinion, it should’ve been Too Much on Now 39, Stop on Now 40 and Viva Forever on Now 41. Same with Backstreet Boys in 1997. It should’ve been Quit Playing Games (With My Heart) on Now 36 and Anywhere For You on Now 37

I suppose as Virgin were kind enough to give Now instant access to Stop and Viva Forever, Now considered it would help to sell the albums better to have the fresher hits on there.

As I recall, Viva Forever was actually at No.1 the week Now 40 was released and it was always a coup to have the current No.1 single, especially an act as big as that.

It would have been nice to have both Too Much and Stop on Now 39 but maybe they were only allowed one, and by the time Now 41 came round there were no other Spice Girls songs to use at that point so they used Too Much then (I agree thought it looks out of place on that album).

The Grease Megamix and The Boys Of Summer must be two of the strangest disc openers Now did, retro picks and the megamix was from 1990 anyway, it was You're The One That I Want on its own that recharted at this time. Don Henley had such a brief chart run too.

I imagine The Grease Megamix was the only Grease related song they could get the rights to. It appeared on a Top Of The Pops compilation around the same time.

I think if Now could get the latest Spice Girls hit, they had to have it. The big girl group hit from that period was C’est La Vie which they couldn’t licence so getting Viva Forever will have made up for it.

Too Much is a little out of place on Now 41 but I do enjoy it there (it was my first Now so I basically love everything about it) I guess they just thought a Now without the Spice Girls at that point would be a risk.

Think it helps that Turn Back Time precedes it which in itself was a little old by that point.

These are getting so much harder to do, there seems to be wayyy more top 40 hits around this period than there ever was before. And Now 41-50 (bar Now 42) are so iconic in particular so sacrificing some of these tracks to replace them with bigger hits is taking me slightly longer, apologises in advance!
