  • People always come out of the woodwork to say "I've never heard this song" when there's a long runner, in the UK or the US. People say it like it's something to brag over when to me, it just looks obt

  • For someone that hates the song so much you spend a considerable amount of time commenting on social media posts about it and talking about it in real life - that promo you’re doing is more than Sam a

And there in lies the answer to all of this...

One person's Rein Me In is another person's One Sweet Day...

And neither opinion is wrong.

One could argue both are wrong kink

Oops sorry One SWEET Day!

Even better, make it Thank God I Found You - the 98 Degrees and Joe version!

I've never listened actively to RMI. Its been on radio/chart show I've only heard it on

I want to live in whatever country’s chart that would be #1 for 4 months in cheeseblock

Your obsession with Christmas songs overtaking all these records needs to stop! cheeseblock

And the “record” in question is most weeks at #1 for a female led non-holiday single (it overtook I Will Always Love You and We Belong Together’s 14 weeks apiece).

Now whether or not you class that as a record is another matter altogether.

Oh you know how well he handles records being broken, go gentle on him xo

I just heard Rein Me In in Tesco Express therefore it's everywhere xx

Mine plays Mariah's "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time" regularly, therefore it's basically a 19 week #1 x

Haha agree that it’s not a particularly special record and tbf I like the Sam and Olivia song. I think my point is that people listening to these in multiple created playlists aren’t the same as physically buying these records. Like I said, totally get that times have changed and the ancient way doesn't work anymore. Just not sure any song nowadays should get the same credit.

Although how can you be sure it shouldn’t get any credit when RMI hasn’t had the ability to compete in the charts in the 1991 or 1953 standard? We will simply never know how it would have performed in that era. Fact is in this era songs hang around for longer but what’s stopping many songs being no1 for more than say 12 weeks is the acr rule and RMI has avoided it a lot which shows a bit of luck and consistency in performance.

The very next tweet from the poster was ‘if this was 2005 Danceteria would have been no1 for weeks’ 😆

It is a shame brat hasn't increased the sales of Charli's back catalogue all that much apart from the odd track. She does have a really strong back catalogue apart from sucker maybe, liked it at the time and still love Doin It but other than that I don't ever listen to it.

What have likes got anything to do with it?

Likes on social media mean very little i was thrown by that as well

Not having heard chart topping music is entirely fair enough in this era.

My point was more in this particular case that I think it reflects more on the individuals claiming to not have heard the song (or heard of Sam/Olivia) than it does on the charts themselves.

Have seen one tweet of someone saying they’re a big Olivia fan but have never heard the song. That’s just ridiculous.

This , as a Taylor fan trying to get through the Cats soundtrack was painful 🤣 but its what you do as a fan and Rein me in is olivias second biggest song ever
