What are some songs covered that you prefer and even love more than the original that was released between 2000 and 2019?

For me ones that come to mind atm.

Johnny Cash - Hurt

Mark Ronson & Amy Winehouse - Valerie (though I didn't like it much initially).

Gary Jules and Michael Andrews - Mad World

Adele - Make You Feel My Love

Muse - Feeling Good

P!nk - Try

Good question. I am actually going to put a vote in here for allSTARS* - "The Land Of Make Believe". I feel like it was one of those songs where it wasn't so sacred it couldn't deign to be covered at

  • Sugababes - 'Freak Like Me' love the flip of the Adina Howard original with added Tubeway Army production <3

Would need to put thought into this but instant stand out for me is Stereophonics - Handbags and Gladrags, just kind of "feel" more from it. The story feels more understandable some how.

The original is great, but Disturbed's version of Sound of Silence is absolutely superb. An entirely different presentation of the song, the drama, the build, all just brilliant.

Has to be the Rod Stewart cover for me or the duet with Stereophonics.

For 'I Drove All Night' I prefer the Roy Orbison version to Cyndi Lauper - more emotive.

I prefer Rage's cover of Brian Adams' Run To You to the original slightly but the original is still very good.

Neither of these are 21st century :P

Sorry didnt read the opening post enough.

Heaven by DJ Sammy and Do is for me a good bit better than the Bryan Adams original.

I found one from 2003 UK top 40 - Dario G Feels Like Heaven (cover of Fiction Factory). Brilliant.

It has an operatic trance sound like Opera Song - Jurgen Vries at the same time.

The original Fiction factory vocal is a bit grim imo.

Just say you meant to say the Celine Version of I drove all night (which is the best of the 3) kink

Correct.

RE: Glee, I like some of the covers they did, I wouldn't say they often made any "better".

However, they did some covers so well that it brought my attention to some songs I didn't know / know very well and really made me enjoy them a lot more.

The best example is "Cough Syrup". The right song at the right time within the storyline made this very memorable and it was previously a song that had just kind of passed me by.

Good question. I am actually going to put a vote in here for allSTARS* - "The Land Of Make Believe". I feel like it was one of those songs where it wasn't so sacred it couldn't deign to be covered at all. And actually they did a really good job of bringing it into 2002 I thought.
