Biography

“I try not to overthink songs,” Zara Larsson told Apple Music in 2019. Instead, the Swedish singer feels most on point when she’s able to “just feel it.” Larsson’s ability to convey that mix of youthful confidence and emotional intensity helped make her one of Europe’s biggest stars while she was still in her teens. Born in 1997 in a suburb of Stockholm, Larsson first found fame in Sweden when her performance of Céline Dion’s “My Heart Will Go On” clinched her victory on a TV talent show at the age of 10. She released her debut album, 1, in 2014, which topped the charts throughout Scandinavia and landed her a US record deal. “Never Forget You”, a collaboration with British singer and producer MNEK that also marked Larsson’s first songwriting effort, became her first major US success the following year. Together with the album So Good, the song established the power of Larsson’s sleek yet impassioned brand of EDM-powered pop. Poster Girl followed in 2021, adding a dash of disco influence to the mix, while VENUS, Larsson’s first release on her own Sommer House label, marked a new era of independence (“…and the core of female energy and empowerment I want to step into”, she told Apple Music in 2024). Simultaneously, a viral video combining the kitschy, colourful aesthetics of artist and designer Lisa Frank with audio from “Symphony”—her 2017 team-up with Clean Bandit—triggered a new surge in popularity. Larsson capitalised on the attention, dressing up the maximalist electropop of her 2025 album Midnight Sun in a tropical twist on that same distinct visual style, closing out the year with performances across the US and Europe. Larsson’s instincts continued to serve her well into 2026, kicking the year off at the top of the global charts as the featured artist on “Stateside” by PinkPantheress, taken from the UK star’s remix album Fancy Some More?. Before Shakira took the stage alongside Jennifer Lopez at the 2020 Super Bowl, she told Apple Music that the performance was intended “to celebrate Latin culture and the importance of women in the industry”. It was the realisation of a dream that the singer—born Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll in Barranquilla, Colombia, in 1977—has worked toward since she started writing songs at eight and released her debut album, Magia, at 14. Following years of success in the Latin music world, she set her sights on conquering the English-language charts, soliciting the help of Gloria Estefan on her 2001 crossover hit, “Whenever, Wherever”, the lead single from her multiplatinum-selling fifth album, Laundry Service. Combining poetic lyrics with tropical rhythms, pop hooks and influences as diverse as folk and electronic music, she quickly became one of the best-selling Latin American artists in history and a worldwide star. Biography

The Killers dropped English synth-pop down into their glitzy, scuzzy Las Vegas world, and a familiar sound became brand new. The group launched in 2001, when frontman Brandon Flowers—then working in casinos—answered a advert from guitarist Dave Keuning; they wrote their breakout single, “Mr. Brightside”, at their first meeting. Rounded out by drummer Ronnie Vannucci and bassist Mark Stoermer, they rose to popularity with 2004’s glammy, post-punk Hot Fuss, its single "Somebody Told Me" a cheeky summary of a million conversations in the clubs. While initially seeming like a flashier counterpart to the dourness of The Strokes and Interpol, The Killers traded synthesisers for more guitars in the early 2000s, introducing a new sound akin to U2 and Springsteen on albums like 2006’s Sam’s Town and 2017’s Wonderful Wonderful. They do believe in love and rock, but they seem to feel a little sheepish about it as they get ready to go out. They returned in 2020 with their sixth album, Imploding the Mirage, and the Lindsey Buckingham-assisted single “Caution”. The song serves as both a return to roots and a mission statement for their future, as Flowers told Apple Music that it reminded The Killers of a universal truth: "Rock 'n' roll can be transcendent.” - Apple Music
