Calvin and Harry finally off, about time.

Thanks to everyone who kept the playlist going in my absence!

So they are continuing to support Ellie this era after completely snubbing her last time (which is a shame as I much prefer the singles from the last album)

Why would they want to inflict that Alyssa Grace thing on the masses?

About time they A-listed ‘Be Her’, not sure what took them so long.

Also happy to see beabadoobee climb as I think it’s the best thing she’s ever done.

I adore ‘Manhattan’ but probably wishful thinking to hope it gets A-listed.

I don't understand the decision to move 'Sun Has Set' and 'Be Her' up to the A List when the former has spent six weeks on the playlist already and the latter has spent seven weeks on the playlist already!

Nice to see 'Ain't In LA', 'What A Life', 'One song away from crying' and 'brand new chanel$' moving up to the B List. It's a shame to see 'Dependent' and 'DON'T BELIEVE IT' stalling on the C List though.

Good to see the adds for 'RESCUER', 'bloodstream', 'Dance Dance Dance!', 'Ravers' and 'Coming Home'.

I'm very confused about Absolutely's 'I Just Don't Know You Yet' being added now, it was released in June 2025! It is a stunning record though and I was lucky enough to see her perform it live last year. Also it's not a first time add for her as she was added last week with John Summit on 'DON'T BELIEVE IT'.

It's also a five way tie between Ella Langley, FLO, Gracie Abrams, Phoebe Bridgers and sombr for longest runner!

Thanks, I wasn't paying too much attention to last week's and I haven't updated my spreadsheet yet so she didn't come up when I searched for her! Anyway I've removed the first time tag for her in the OP.

Ahh amazing to see Absolutely added! I wonder whether Amma might get mainstream success at some point to complete the trio of sisters!

Just to make you aware in case you’ve changed it incorrectly on your database, you’ve removed the first time add for Alyssa Grace rather than Absolutely.

They’re over a year late for absolutely 😭 not sure why now they’re adding it? But I’m not complaining!

Guessing the record label have only now decided to send it to radio as a single? That's how it always used to work, not sure if things have changed.

happy to see ADÉLA and Slayyyter moving up - hopefully they'll get A-listed next week 🤞

shame they didn't change Lost Boys to "Tracks from Lost Weekend" - there's better (although less poppy/radio-ready) tracks on the album than that one.

Sad that they removed "Satisfy", but I guess it was (sort of) time. The track is only doing well on Apple Music, but not on Spotify.

Either way, glad that they added "Ravers". This is Ellie's best shot to get a new hit, although the streaming numbers aren't in her favour. Let's see what Polydor does this time.

Ellie Goulding also released a new track called "4 Seasons" at the end of July. The track is really good but Radio 1 have chosen not to support it.

MadgeKylie coming on Friday, mark my words.

Especially if it's popping up on official hits playlists.

It fits Radio 1 perfectly and I think since Kate Bush they are much more open to veteran acts as long as the tune doesn't stand out like a sore fecking thumb on the station.

R1 isn't that much of a "youth" station listener-wise in 2026 and it doesn't feel like they even pretend it is anymore, I frequently hear voice notes on there from people who say they're on their way to pick up their grandkids etc so God knows where that 15-29 nonsense fits into this. That age range was put in place at a time when pop culture worked completely differently and when there was a clear generational gap when it came to music.

My late mother was 30 in 1988 and called house music (which she hated) "bang bang bang" music, think the only new albums she bought after that were by Westlife. Most of the dance songs I hear on Radio 1 and see on the charts now sound like they could have easily come out in 1995.

I'm 43 and just streamed three hours of current club tunes!

People who bought Rhythm Is A Dancer when they were 15/16 are 49/50 now!

Nowadays it doesn't feel like there is very much at all on the Radio 1 playlist which would scare off your average 50-year-old. I mean, dance doesn't really change does it? Do pop, indie and metal change much really? I'll concede that rap has a new subgenre every now and then but that seems very quiet right now.

A lot of their music policy is about current euphoric uptempo anthems and I believe Love Sensation ticks all those boxes!

Love Sensation could easily be by a a pair of 25 year olds regardless of their actual ages and that's what it's all about. You can be as old as you want as long as your music sounds youthful (and ironically a lot of the acoustic/country stuff by twentysomethings that's getting on like Boston doesn't sound very youthful or vibrant to me at all but oh well, if that's what the cool kids are into they gotta reflect that).

Anyway, rant over.

There was a point there somewhere, I promise.

Because it wasn't an official single.
