We need another period like spring/summer 2024 when so many smashes were coming out one after the other and pushing sales up solely from the strength of the songs.

The charts this year are drier than at any point since probably the 50s, which probably had more going on.

I'm not massively celebrating Rein Me In's long overdue cut to ACR when all we will get is a 26k selling AI-assisted song there (unless Jolene holds up better than it has so far, in which case I'm fully here for that).

‘9 to 5’ finally becoming the top 40 hit it always deserved to be feels like an absolutely huge moment.

Such an interesting chart! Absolutely shocked that Sam Smith didn't even go top 20, I definitely did not see that coming at all, thought they were a sure fire top 3! 🤯 Wonder what caused such a massive fall from grace for them.

I kind of guessed it would be those three hits that charted for Dolly, but it is such a shame that the rules are in place to prevent her being able to finally chart I will always love you, Here you come again and Coat of many colours as all three are also iconic Dolly hits. It feels very strange they are not charting hits in the UK (other than the obvious Whitney mammoth #1 of course).

Such a shame Girls Aloud just missed out on the top 60 but another top 75 for them in a re-release is really nothing to be sniffed at. Such a fantastic album too, their last great album in my opinion. Out of control has some incredible highs but as a whole album is probably their weakest for me.

I am however delighted for Paul Heaton, as a big Beautiful South and Housemartains fan I think he deserves a lot more credit.

Pleased that Rein Me In is going ACR.

As a Sam Fender fan, I think it's a shame that he will be remembered mostly for a song that isn't his best and a collab.

Seventeen Going Under would have been a much better biggest hit for his legacy.

Sam Smith at #21 is definitely a major flop for them. I think flop is probably the right word rather than under-performance.

oh absolutely. people here use the word flop willy nilly but to go from three #1s and a #2 to missing the top 20 is disastrous performance

By overall units, it still is. It's certified 5x Platinum for 3 million units while Rein Me In is at 2,300,859.

I think they’ve totally alienated their original core audience and have had diminishing returns with each album - also it feels as if there has been zero promo for this era too.

Even with all that factored in I’m shocked they couldn’t pass 5k sales especially when there are around 15+ variants available, it really is a huge underperformance.

SGU Didbt do too well at the start of its chart run, took 6-7 months to chart in the top 40.

Gutted for Sam Smith - it’s a great album; fans of their first two albums should enjoy this one too.

Jorja Smith losing her T10 streak is a real shame too.

Poor I Will Always Love You being denied top 40 by the 3 track rule. It might have been top 40 if Kenny Rogers had top billing on Islands In The Stream

Well yes we know it would have been because its sales have been given.

Kind of dumb that 'I Will Always Love You' misses out on charting because of the technicality of some apparent label politics. In fairness obviously 'Islands In The Stream' is only charting now because of Dolly but I still see it as being unambiguously primarily a Kenny Rogers song.
